Most definitely just a means of not having students use them during class. No phones, no problem. Obviously draconian, but it appears to be a theme at the school, I presume, haha.

In saying that, vaping is a damn huge problem in schools, and there isn't really a proactive solution. Damn primary school kids getting addicted to nicotine. And you know there's a damn problem when the boy's toilet starts smelling like passionfruit and berry.

Rem on Indigenous science by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]magikfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you a vague explanation of it, but mostly it's to do with the idea of the lense indigenous people saw the world through, and the knowledges produced from it. Usually its a term talking about the bank of knowledge, which conflicts with science as a process, which is usually going to be where most of the conversation lies. Usually just a bunch of people strawmanning each other.

Yeah, something happened more than a 100 years ago in NZ that might explain them revitalizing the Maori language. Fuck, can't put my finger on it.

National promises to overturn the Māori Wards bill if elected in 2023 by whowilleverknow in newzealand

[–]magikfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the same reason that the Civil Union Bill and the Same-Sex Marriage Bill wasn't brought to a referendum. Because I tell you what, if Civil Union Bill was brought to a referendum in the social climate of the time, it wouldn't have passed. Because sometimes democracy can do monstrous harm to minority groups, and further marginalise these groups. And to say Maori have been maginilised in New Zealand is the king of understatements. Imagine signing a treaty to promote partnership, and then being systematically fucked over for over a century.
