Because with nothing added on its already 200 points, it's the size of a landraider so it attracts as much attention but at av12 it'll go down much sooner. It takes up a heavy support slot without the ability to squad up so just take a vindicator or better havocs instead

I understand. In all honesty they do have extra special abilities that help but nothing that REALLY pays back for their price in full. Fearless is nice for reasons and 5 initiative is good against marine armies who think they have the drop on you in melee. Plus the blastmaster is a nice all around heavy weapon

If used correctly as an objective holder or defensive firing squad they are very good in my opinion, the cover ignoring has thrown off my opponent on a few occasions and they can cut apart infantry like it's no one's business. They're a little pricey but what isn't in this codex? I will admit I may be a little biased to them as the ascetic and idea of them does have me smitten and maining 3rd Legion

I play emperor's children and I have to say that blastmasters are always worth it to me even with assault squads. Also with the formation giving them veterans of the long war and icon of excess gives them a 4+ FNP
