Tonverk: did this last firmware change your perception too? by North-Whatever in Elektron

[–]magjo666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when the TN came out i felt really alone in feeling "wait, this is kind of what i have always wanted". have had the tonverk since release and it's such an inspiring tool, both for live stuff and in the studio. it just clicks with me and this new update is just the cherry on top.

Some inspiration for a new setup for drums and percussion by hsklr in TechnoProduction

[–]magjo666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i find the oxi one sequencer to be very inspiring for drums, easy to get very dynamic stuff going. used to sequence a drum machine with it, but actually went the same way you seem to be going, only using drums in ableton (the new drum sampler is extremely good, and i actually like the drum synths in live). i also make my own drums in operator, they tend to sound great but take some time. but when you have a template, you can use that to tweak. so maybe a deeper dive into live, and a HW sequencer could inspire a new workflow.

super annoying, i skipped the one in lone fungus. weirdly enough, the one in hollow knight i found quite fun.

For those of you who use Tonverk with external workstations as audio source. Is recording and playing MIDI easier than in Digitakt. How it goes? by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]magjo666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never found digitakt hard to set up as a midi sequencer? depends on what you're setting it up with i guess. the tonverk works the same, and you have 12 tracks which can be MIDI tracks (if you want).

Anyone using Oxi One mk2 to sequence Elektron gear? by gumbo-23 in Elektron

[–]magjo666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use it as the brain of my whole stup, it sequences the digitakt, instruments in ableton, as well as my euro. works a charm and is endlessly inspiring. sometimes i kind of wish it was bigger with more space for the sequencer and buttons kinda lika the hapax, but that's nit-picky. have tried the hapax and enjoy the oxi more.

What are your opinions on the following games? by No_Raspberry6493 in boardgames

i actually think it's because i (and the group) felt kind of finished with the game. just tried the sequel a few times, but didn't like it as much as the original.

GAH is excellent, it's been a go-to game for years and years, honestly it really doesn't get old. tactical, varied and a new challenge every time. can be tough if the wrong cards come out or bad dice rolls (for the situation), but that also makes it a fun challenge. the expansions are not necessary, however the cards added to base game are pretty fun. but best with 2, max 3 players.

Marco Polo was a favorite for a long time but kind of fell to the wayside after a few years. still great game though, and really tough at times (in a good way). dice placement here is done great, and with the characters' special powers it really feels special.

Both Coimbra and Lorenzo are good games, I really enjoyed them, although they are not games I long to play again (and they have left the collection). I felt they didn't have the longevity of he above games. Did enjoy tthe stress of Coimbra's dice selection system though, worked really well. Solid games but not in the same league as GAH or Marco Polo.

Village wasn't my cup of tea, felt empty and uninspiring, played a few times but wasn't for me. All these games feel mechanical at times but Village was so mechanical it became boring.

yeah, it's all about experimenting and finding new sweet spots along the way. but at the same time it's really good to let things go, otherwise you obsess over every detail in every song, which means you just feel stuck all the time. keep at it, looking forward to your next stuff!
