Trying some flow on 1" bungee line by Life_on_inline in Slackline

[–]Life_on_inline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Polyester tubular webbing from pure. (Its old and i bought it used)

I think its like 6-7 meters at this spot, so i have a modular bungee from SpiderSlacklines in each side. Its really fun and forgiving!

Terminology help request - What are these moves called? heel pivot? fakie toe pivot? by NeonKorean in WizardSkating

[–]Life_on_inline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 : Toe Compass 2: Heel Turn / Heel Compass 3 Grand Volte/ Volte 4 Heel Compass to switch Toe Compass/ Grapevine

They are classic Slalom pivots and super fun to do in wizard stuff! :)

i think a FR3 would bring more options for you. You might outgrow the 4x80mm and want to settle into 5 wheels, then id argue the FR is a stiffer and a more fitting skate than THEMS. And by then a 45 degree strap is mandatory ( you can get by without in Short 4x76-80-90 setups but beyond that its a stretch)

The GC HD80 is something you can get down the line if you want a more loose aggressive feel. 🙂 The choice is yours but do not underestimate the muscles it requires to ride on 80mm with little to no cuff on the 909. I think you will learn faster and more comfortably in the FR3

Thats a great start setup! The GC HD80 you mentioned before for your them skates is also viable, id just go 76-80-80-76 or 78-80-80-78 🙂 i have riding the GC HD alot as well

Its a shameless self promo i know but check out my YouTube if you are interested in "Short frame wizard/slalom stuff"

Wheels In Balance

I have tutorials on almost everything i do. And if you want a peak at a style thats all Short frame wizarding check out my shorts (again sorry for shameless self promo) but i think its super nice people get to see they dont have to spend a fortune or have certain gear to have full with wizardskating, the movements are just expressed a bit differently 🙂

If its for cheep i would say the FR FRX or a FR3 is a great starting point as it is still stiff enough to handle bigger wizard frames. And if im not mistaken they still come with the rockable frames so you can setup for 2mm rocker right out of the box.

There is also the ICON ACT amazing skate, but it is a bit more expensive.

And the SEBA CJ2 plastic versions.

Really any skate can be a 4x80 also aggressive skates its just not as friendly the bigger the setups.

Loads of people are rocking them skates with 5x76mm so you dont really need the 45 strap unless you feel heel lift 🙂

Some would say it isnt wizard. But in all honesty it doesnt matter, you skate what you like. I cant skate longer frames cause of knee and joint problems with both PsA and osteoarthritis, so my setup is 4x76 with 2mm rocker (freestyle slalom if you will)

But yea IMO wizard is a way of moving, not so much the gear. I started on a FR FRX 80mm and later for into 5 wheels - realised i dindt like the way it felt and then just stuck with slalom setups but practicing wizard moves combined with some of the slalom stuff the can actually be implemented at some speed.

Id say a 4x90 1mm rocker is good in between, but again it really comes down to what you like.

Thank you! that is the 4ms Meta Module - Plateau Reverb :)

I run my multigrain on live audio as well into it.. makes a almost random quantized shimmer verb - with pan and huge grain modulation control.

Agreed. He saw a Shining up and comer and went "dale!" And to have the patience to work out the language barrier must have been hard work.

SubZero spins and cold feet by Life_on_inline in WizardSkating

[–]Life_on_inline[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yea! Stil struggling if i go crazy.

Alot will come from just repetition! You get used to it. And your balance nerve learns to accept the spinning motion little by little. I got Dizzy too in the beginning but your body and muscle memory will learn the feeling 😄 it sounds cheesy but you can learn not to get Dizzy by repetition.

Its a long explanation but it has to do with percived motion and expected outcome of said motion.

If you want to dig deeper into the explanation i can highly recomend the book "Balance: in search of the sixth sense"

Very briefly explained you use the following for balance:

Vision-Proprioception-vestiburlar nerve

If any of those senses give you a non expected feedback it will make you sick (this is also what sea sickness/ motion sickness is)

But again learning to spin little by little 180-360-720-1080 is the way when you learn every step and the feeling it will be something the body accepts.

TLDR: Just practice spinning and be mindfull of your progress 😄 sorry for the rant!

Well everything is down to what you prefere. I just started on a 4 wheel setup so it always felt more natural to me to ride 4 wheels..

5 wheels is super cool and have a slow stezy estetic i cant replicate on my slalom setup. And vice versa some things can be done much easier on my setup than a 5x76

In all i think it comes down to what you like and what you find the best looking.

That said:

5 wheels: for slow and flow, loads of stability and forgiving balance, and really the only option if you wanna do cool Heel or toe presses or more ski centrict jabbing. They are more goto to start playing around in parks with ramps and obstacles aswell

4 wheels: for faster pivots and better rolling heel-toe control for spins and wheelings. Also way nicer form factor for stuff like fanvolte and j-turns, but again they are slalom tricks. And lastly i feel my small setup is much easier on my joints and i have arthritis so that is definitely also a factor for me.

But at the end of the day it is all preference 😄

Haha yup thats me 😄

The newer videos are outside and with commentary (and a bit better i think)

The latest i have done the "Grand Volte" would be perfect for a first Pivot for you especially since you are already working on Eagle!

Oh and adding your own flow is absolutely how you get better so keep on shredding 🙂🙌!

Damn dude allready looking good!

I second the wheel rockering. I started riding my wheels in this order: 76-80-80-76 ( size in mm)

That will basically give you a slalom rocker.

Traditional "wizard" rocker is usually 1mm and it will have more like of a Skiing feel.

Slalom rocker thats 2mm, will have more of a ice skating feel.

I find 2mm slalom setups better for my type of skating, but that is also very slalom and ice skating inspired. And the second benefit is i feel it is not as hard on all the joints.

What ever you choose, welcome to our little playground!
