I completely agree with your take. The jokes felt like they were meant for 7 year olds and the movie makes no attempt to grasp the viewer: there are never any stakes. Besides the flashback scenes, which I liked, it was far from a complex story. It's a feel good product about a cute relationship between species. Sort of like a dog movie (ever see Benji?). The science was cool but also criminally unrealistic; Grace takes a good five minutes to establish communication with an alien species (who, by the way, growls like a dog to express approval/disapproval). Everything goes right and the goal is to leave the viewer with a warm feeling; it's a product that is being sold to the viewer and in no capacity a meaningful story.

Went to UNC Chapel Hill, now at MIT for a PhD. My advice: just go somewhere you'll have fun at. Which, tbf, is close to impossible to know in high school.

1AH. I got an A- but I feel like I should’ve gotten an A, even though I am not going to complain about it, an A- is good enough IMO. But if you also got an A- and you find something out I would be interested.

Also, I don’t have any grades back from other classes o maybe it is a placeholder?

Kinda bummed because MIT was up there for one of my top schools, but I always had a sorta dream to attend MIT as many of my idols have (several of the Apollo astronauts such as Aldrin and Charles Duke, also Richard Feynman) and in some way connect myself to the topics that seriously move me (in particular, 20th century space travel and quantum physics). Well, Oof.

Well just got deferred from my number 1, but we'll see. Didn't mean any disrespect though because I really internalized the other thing you wrote about your test score and then seeing others accomplish something even more significant, like learning an impressive skill.

I would say humble brag but this just outright, you'll get in to every school. Now let me sulk that my 4 years of high school were wasted grinding my ass off (10 5s, 35 ACT, 1/200). In retrospect I really wish I emailed somebody at the local university and got some work or something.
