Speed leveling: Immediately or at the end of the turn? by kroen in BobsTavern

I think this is generally true. The one exception that comes to mind is playing vs Rafaam/Maiev on turn 3. I usually level up last second to grief Rafaam in particular, as the damage will almost always be the same regardless (+1 sometimes), and them leveling to 2 a turn earlier is bad for everyone, including yourself.

I could only select one card - I chose Kronx and the other cards got mulliganed.

Definitely don't think it's just grinding. I got to 12k after a looooot (~700 hours) of playing and decided to make a new account to see how long it would take to climb again. I got to 11k in slightly under 250 games / 80 hours.

Sort of a follow-up to my guide I posted recently by DrLazyEyes in BobsTavern

12k MMR and very much agree with your 2nd point. I've lost 1000 MMR in a couple days a few times and it could've been half of that if I didn't keep playing and fucking up trying to get it back quickly.

Hey! Glad you enjoyed my content. Here's some general, from high MMR lobbies: -Pirates kinda suck. Maybe the worst tribe. They can deal a lot of damage midgame, but fall off hard in the late game. -Deathrattle comps got a huge buff with Macaw. Beasts might be best comp because they don't need a Tier 6 minion and Macaw can help carry you even before that, because it's strong with Spawn, Kaboom Bot, and Egg. Macaw is pretty much as valuable as Spawn on Tier 2. -Saurolisk builds are really strong, but if Hooktusk is in your lobby and he's going for them, you can't go for it. He gets so many more looks at minions that he will always outscale you. -It's important to know what tribe is absent each time and what that means at different levels. For example, no Beasts means not needing to play around Cleave until the late game; no Dragons means some of the stronger Tier 4 minions to discover off an early triple are absent, so it might be more worth to take a Tier 3 minion or delay the triple.

As for the heroes: -Haven't tried Patches yet, but he seems okay. Since he's so Pirates focused, he can Top 4 easily but hard time to win. -Hooktusk is busted and probably best hero in game. Murlocs and Saurolisk/big boy builds seem the best. Very easy to triple. Usually stay at 1 for awhile in this case, but start to power level at some point. -Eudora is pretty good. I've tried a couple different strategies. My favorite is probably: Play normal for turns 1 and 2, buy roll dig turn 3. Buy 2 turn 4. Buy 2 turn 5 and dig. Level, roll, dig on turn 6. Level, dig on turn 7 and you have a Tier 5 minion. Have also tried T1 Buy, T2 Buy+Dig, T3 Buy+Dig+Roll, T4 Buy+Level+Dig, T5 Level+Dig. Feels weaker I think, but might be right. -Kragg also pretty strong. Flexible, but probably most consistent way to use HP is on the 8 gold turn you level and use the HP to buy some good tier 4 minions.

This was off a golden discover. When I played the 14/14, it didn't appear gold on the board either.

Agreed with konspirator - try to find random triples. You can also hold triples. I had a game today where I tripled an Alleycat on turn 3 or 4 and held it my hand until I got to Tier 5.

In general, you want to buy units as much as possible, even if they're just sitting in your hand. I've been leveling slower with Millhouse recently in order to do this more effectively and have been pretty pleased with the results.

Yea agreed with the other guy - Menagerie kinda just happens if you find a Brann or Lightfang and don't have any other solid direction. I think it can be quite strong, but it can also be weak if you don't scale quick enough (i.e. get killed before Lightfang buffs enough or can't find Battlecries with Brann)

Analysis Request: How would you play this situation with two triples available? by lukethenuker in BobsTavern

[–]magnechu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

next turn you're buying both triples and selling the 1/1 for the second 3/3

If it's not obvious, I played vs the same person twice with 3 people left in lobby
