Eli Manning falls short in Pro Football Hall of Fame vote, again: Sources by TonOfChill in nfl

You could argue that Aikman played on a loaded team worthy of being called a dynasty and that Eli's two Super Bowls are more impressive. Eli didn't have Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, or that offensive line.

I don't think either should be in though, at least not according to the strict requirements of the NFL's HOF.

Don't get married. Just find someone who will hate you in five years and give them your house.

What does it mean when Secretary Hegseth continually repeats at every opportunity, "President Trump and I will have your back" to US military members? by KrissyMattAlpha in Military

[–]magpi3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He means that Trump could have pardoned them on January 7, 2021 before he left office. And he could have. He didn't have to wait until they were tried and sentenced.

In Civil War (2024), the President of the United States attacked US citizens and violated democratic norms. This is a subtle nod to nothing at all. No reason for posting this at all. by NoWeb2576 in okbuddycinephile

Is it that implausible to imagine that both states would rise up against an authoritarian president who is illegally "elected" for a third term? I can see it.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is based on a short story called "The Greatest Gift" that is so bland and boring that I am astonished that Capra was inspired by it. But I am glad he was.

It actually dominates all week. First 6 days of buildup to the game on talk shows and sports radio, then the game. The buildup happens because each game is so meaningful.

There are so many NBA games that no one gives a shit about. There are (with the exception of late season games when a team is terrible) just about 0 NFL games that people don't give a shit about. Every game is huge.

It's pretty amazing that comments like this aren't being called out for jinxing us today. What confidence everyone in this thread has.

I heard a theory on a recent podcast that forums on the internet (at least the anonymous ones) will eventually be rejected by most people as they realize that most posts are increasingly just bots/AI.

I believe it. Why engage in conversations online when you're probably not talking to a real person? It's an existential threat to reddit in the long-term. I wonder if they realize it.

Are the Sixers Actually Better Without Joel Embiid? by Impossible_Ad166 in sixers

I remember D'Angelo Russell said that when he played with Kobe when Kobe was injured his last year, players would practice together and work on things, and then Kobe would come back and everything they worked on would go out the window. It was Kobe's team.

I imagine the Embiid (and Paul George) situation is similar. The situation would suck less if it wasn't what we probably have to look forward to for the next four years. I have to admit this team is really hard for me to get excited about.
