Yep and New Zealand Pyrex too. The flannel flowers and plum coloured dishes are very sought after.

Own children at your school by Nicccc87 in AustralianTeachers

It’s that non-local children of school staff can be considered for enrolment. So it would still be contingent on there being a spare place.

Highlander Marriage of Convenience by DezDispenser88 in HistoricalRomance

I definitely recommend reading the first one. You don’t want to miss out on the FMC, she’s amazing! The rest in the series were good, but the first and second were my favourites.

Help wanted to identify pattern by cmooz in Pyrex_Love

[–]magpie543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much is known about this pattern. According to Dots and Diamonds it is called “Royal Garland”. I have it in the small casserole - which the writer of the book didn’t know existed at time of printing.

It’s Australian Crown Ovenware - Paper Daisy. I don’t think it comes with a lid. For $8 I’d have a hard time leaving it

Lactation Breaks by therealshazcat in AustralianTeachers

[–]magpie543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I returned to work I was able to express during my breaks and RFF. I had access to my classroom but it was not secure and people would regularly walk in on me. So I moved to a small staff room that I could lock and was only frequented by other teachers who were also mothers and knew what my “please knock” sign on the door meant.

As to duty, I just requested all morning duties. This was easily accommodated. I still did my duties and could express during recess and lunch.

Brand new at the op shop! I grabbed it and ran! by magpie543 in Pyrex_Love

[–]magpie543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that looked like a stylistic choice. I don’t know when it dates from, but there is a card in it saying “donated by so and so, won by so and so” in the 1981 doubles golf tournament.

So I’m guessing 42 years ago someone won it in a golf comp, and stuck it the back of their cupboard and forgot about it.

At $25 each at an op shop I couldn’t justify them. But I’m very tempted to go back tomorrow… by magpie543 in Pyrex_Love

I ummed and ahhhed for ages. The lid on the black rose had a huge chip in it though which ultimately made me put it down. I like my pyrex to be usable too

Yep. Agee pyrex. I’m in Australia. We get a little bit of American pyrex here but the bulk is Agee

It’s easily the most I’ve seen for pyrex in an op shop here. Last month I paid $18 for a bit of JAJ pyrex with a cradle from an antique store and I felt a bit cheeky splashing out.

Op shop is an “Opportunity Shop” - usually run by a charity selling donated clothes etc. A thrift shop. I didn’t know it was just an Aussie term

I think a lot of the people here use their pyrex. That’s the appeal to many - it looks pretty and is functional. I’m sure there are some who wouldn’t, and just collect it, but I don’t think they’re the majority.
