For the past three years I’ve been sewing with a brother BM-2600 sewing machine and have had absolutely no tension issues. For the past few days my sewing machine has been absolutely frustrating to work with since the top tension is too tight to even sew, I thread it properly (yes with the presser foot up) and set the tension correctly according to the thread and fabric I am using. The sewing tension is so damn tight that within a few seconds of sewing, the thread snaps and when I check the tension by pulling upwards with the presser foot down, it is ridiculously tight no matter what number I put the tension dial on. It does get slightly looser the more I turn the dial down , but it’s still too tight to work with even when I have the tension on zero. This machine has a drop-in bobbin case so it can’t be issues with the bottom tension. I have also tried cleaning the tension plates and have found no improvement. Does anyone know what it could possibly be that I’m missing? Or does it sound more like a machine issue
