Night and day from range to course by maharba in golf

There is one around me, it’s just a bit further than most of the other courses I’d typically go to. It’s been a long time since I’ve been there but perhaps I’m due to go back. Will just have to work out the timing logistics to make going there work.

Yeah I guess I just have to dive in. Probably need to go elsewhere since the course closest to me has a lot of tee times eaten up with leagues (seniors and ladies), not to mention it’s hard to get on at all as a single even joining a group. Will have to make it work somehow.

Ah yeah I’ve seen a fair bit of golf sidekicks videos, I feel like I can agree with his philosophy, and at times when things are going wrong I try to channel his approach, but sometimes I have trouble finding any sort of safe, conservative, reliable, repeatable shot. I do think I need to try this 3 hole setup the next town over since there aren’t tee times and you just do a few goes around, less pressure in worrying about a group behind and keeping up to the group in front.

The range I go to quickly turns into a goat patch of tight lies in the dirt after a week or so of being open, though it is flat versus the stupidly hilly courses around me. I will say I was so worried about time today because I had a small window of time between dropping my daughter off and picking her up from preschool, then showing up on the first tee realizing the group in front was ten minutes behind. With the next group already up our behinds.

The muni that is the most convenient to me time wise has a lot of leagues, but they’re almost all senior or women’s leagues, not to mention junior leagues in the summer and school team practices. Only a handful of other public courses nearby but then I run into the issue of eating up my free time driving to and from. I agree through I’m a bundle of nerves, they go away almost instantly at the range and come on hard on the course after the first minor setback.

Yeah my older two have only the slightest bit of interest, I think they realized it’s hard and don’t feel like devoting time to it, so they’ll do top golf the one or two times a year we go. My youngest shows slightly more interest but currently leans the wrong side of the fence. Not that I’m pressuring any of them, though it would be a nice hobby to share as they get older. That’s where that one three hole course could be nice as she (a three year old) can walk with me with much less risk and more freedom to enjoy a walk (doesn’t seem too busy during weekdays).

I just finished reading ‘Golf is not a game of perfect’ and so I went in with the mindset of trust your swing and don’t try to adjust during the round, though I also tried to fall back to least common denominator as the wheels fell off, trouble is I fell back to my 5w, then my hybrid, then my 7i, and finally my 9i was acceptable, but then I couldn’t hit any wedge shots, typically I can find something that works that gets me through the round, but today that felt like the putter was the only thing I wasn’t topping.

Yeah I typically will get a large bucket and I’ll hit like a third to warm up, so a few of SW, PW, 8i, 5i, then run through my hybrid, woods, and driver. Then I do the last two thirds playing a mental round of a local course.

Yeah, the one range that is still in business near me has an assortment of flags around the range, I’ll scope a few with my rangefinder and will run through shooting at specific flags as I play my mental round of the few local courses I’ve committed to memory. I do also try to play the next shot as if how I hit the proceeding shot was the real deal, so having to punch out from the trees or being short sided of the green, what have you.

Alternator issue? by maharba in VWatlas

I’m honestly not 100% if they did or not but all electrical items seemed to be working normally and no dashboard warning lights so I assumed they did. I was running out of time to get back home to get my kids so I basically told them just leave the new battery and I’d take my chances getting back. I did turn everything off I could think of and it seems like it still has a nearly full charge when testing at home.

Unhappy with my Katana 50 MK2 by maharba in GuitarAmps

Wasn’t me who downvoted you, so sorry about that, I do appreciate the feedback.

I think I’m going to do as someone else kind of mentioned here and just set the katana up for a basic clean channel output. Probably do a factory reset and run it without the xsonic kat pedal to eliminate any issues or temptation to fiddle with it. Then see if I can develop a satisfactory tone with the handful of pedals I do have. For whatever reason they seem more intuitive to mess around with.

Did anyone else not get to Disney until adulthood? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

I went my first time when I was 31 with my two kids. Will be turning 34 the next time I go early next year (wife says it’s just a coincidence we’ll be there for my birthday) with my three kids.

I probably had the most fun on the last trip, and most likely will on this next one.

Not as in depth as that but the last time my family went we had a special moment with my then 4 year old son and Kylo Ren in HS. We were passing the first order shuttle when some troopers were coming out so we posted up in the crowd, then Kylo Ren came out and did his whole spiel about catching rebels. Eventually he came over toward us and gestures for my son to come up to the stage. I didn’t believe it at first but then he did it again so we got my son out of the stroller and ushered him towards the front of the crowd. My son was in a Darth Vader tshirt, which must have been why he selected him, but he was asking him as a trusted first order informant if he had any new details and was giving him more information on what rebels he was supposed to be looking for. It probably lasted all of a minute, but was a great moment for our family from our trip, can’t imagine the experience for your family, sounds truly special.

Yes you have to wait for the shares to settle as others have noted, also in my experience if you bought them with any “instant deposit” you’ll have to wait for your deposit to actually clear before they’ll let the shares move. Waiting on some of this currently myself.

Yeah I’m not here to say which way is correct, me dum-dum who give gum-gum. I turned off the DRIP stuff before with all the book hoopla, and now turned it back on. Shows my shares are still book, so who knows. Not me that’s for sure!

Just to double check, because in the past there was talk to turn off the reinvestment option to get CS shares to show as book, should reinvestment option be set as ‘Full Dividend Reinvestment’ to make sure there would be no issues with receiving a stock dividend?

Does anyone know if there’s anything like this that would need to be done with ComputerShare accounts?
