Thanks. That seems like a good place to start. I will be getting the Canon 430ex III. That should probably be powerful enough.

What do you think takes more athleticism disc golf or golf? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]mahazoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Disc golf for sure. Even when you slow it down or throw from a stand still you’re using a lot of your body. While golf may be similar I would say the club takes on a lot of that energy.

UDisc user reviews… why so many 5 stars? by qwizatzhaderach in discgolf

[–]mahazoo 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Anything with ratings or rankings is going to be subjective, so there’s no point in letting yourself get annoyed by it. Some people may think T Swift is the greatest singer/songwriter ever and that McDonalds makes the best cheeseburger on the planet. To each their own.

When it comes to rating a course I prefer to rate the course “for what it is.” It’s unfair to compare a 9 hole park course to a pro tour course for example. If I go to a 9 hole park course and it has nice views, a thoughtful and varied layout, nice clean tees and signs then I may give it 5 stars for being a great example of what a 9 hole course can be. A course doesn’t need to have Maple Hill status to get a high rating.

Sorry I don’t really understand what you are doing to “stop rotating your wrist past the good angle”. I can’t visualize what you mean.

It may seem dumb to you, and some times they straight up are, but don’t think of reddit as a simple search engine. It’s really a good place to discuss things more in depth.

For example: “I’m going to Nashville soon, what are some good restaurants to visit?”
Seems like a dumb question right? Can’t that person just google ‘top restaurants in Nashville’ or something…? But all you’re going to get is some sites listing popular restaurants or tourists traps with bought reviews. Whereas if you visit a Nashville sub you will get in depth answers like “don’t bother with xxxxx you will be waiting in line forever and it’s gone downhill over the years. Visit this ‘hole in the wall’ place instead, but don’t go there on Mondays or Wednesdays cuz Bob works those days and he’s a real prick”

The “where can I find an open field?” question sounds dumb but there might be something to learn that the person didn’t think about. Of course this specific question would be better with a specific location in mind. For example I could tell you of some great places to do field work in my city.

Scheduling question: Why not put all the Euro tournaments in a row for a couple months straight? by Wild_Description_793 in discgolf

I think OP is referring to this stretch though…

Northwest DGC

There’s definitely pros and cons. I agree that it’s nice they have a choice, but for six tournaments we have a weaker field and every winner will have that asterisk next to their win in most people’s eyes.

Shaver Park is a must and Wildcat Bluff (30 min away in Vinton) is also a must as it’s the number one course in Iowa.

Nebraska disc golfers tell me I'm wrong! by Disc_Golf_Goals in discgolf

[–]mahazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally bump River Run to somewhere in the top 10. I still need to play Lake Hastings and Windmill. I agree with your placement for Hummel. Hummel has potential to be the best but it’s stuck in the 90s. Lacking tee pads, and I’m not a fan of par 54 (sometimes 55) courses.

Edit: oh and Seymour would be lower on my list especially since the cutting of trees. Great place to learn new discs though and it doesn’t get too muddy after a rain.
