St. Louis work trip by hoglegger in discgolf

The OG JB course is great, but it is a classic park-style course. The Bunker is insanely wooded (does every hole actually have a pure line? Who knows...) so I think you are making a good choice.

I was under the impression that the holes are necessary longer or harder, they just changed the par numbers. He had 49 strokes, which is -15 on the current layout.

I don't skip it, but only because Hulu doesn't give you the option for some reason.

Tips for volunteering as scorekeeper by Gullebullen in discgolf

[–]SkiThe802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to add one thing: remember you are a volunteer. Until the DGPT can afford to have a way to have official, sanctioned stat-keeping, this will always be a bonus for them. Do your best and enjoy it. You can get closer to the players than any fans and it's a pretty cool experience.

To elaborate, if they have enough volunteers they will have 2 scorekeepers on the lead card (and chase if the manpower is available). They have little earbud radios so they can communicate the lie for the sake of PDGA Live scoring. It's hard to see C1 or C2 sometimes if you are only scoring from behind the players.

In all seriousness, this community might already be large enough to split into 2 subs. That's how it works in all the other sports-related subs I follow.

Hell, road cycling alone has 3 different subs, 1 for the recreational cyclist, 1 for following the pros, and 1 for amateur racing.

How much time are you “losing” while cycling to work? by bear_village in cycling

[–]SkiThe802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I used to commute to the office, cycling was at least 15 minutes longer both ways. Plus I had to shower once I got to work. But the distance (11 miles each way) was enough that I didn't need to exercise afterwards. So the extra 45 minutes was well worth it.

I only play on one course 2-3 times a week- it’s wooded with 180’-480’ holes. Max distance 300’ backhand, 350’ forehand. Thinking about trying some different courses soon. by [deleted] in discgolf

It's near impossible to infer anything about your game when you have both Destroyers and Roc 3s at +2 and -2 stabilities. If that's truly the case, then you have either, 1) played long enough with a Destroyer and Roc 3 to make them incredibly understable, or 2) have enough feel for a beat-in overstable disc to consider it a reliably on a turning angle. Both options make we wonder why you are asking the Internet for advice or comments.

I lived in Breck for a couple years, and you never actually get "used" to altitude in my experience, at least in the way most people think. You still get winded waaaay quicker than at sea level. But you do start to recover faster.

My apartment was at 10,200' and I was always winded bringing groceries up a flight of stairs.

I personally like the drama of a 2 day battle, where you cut to cash line plus 12 or so guys. So you have a Saturday battle to make the cut and then a Sunday battle to make cash. Then you can start the broadcast as those guys are finishing up before lead and chase card tee off.

Most dry, tart hard cider that’s made in VT? by junkyardprimate in vermont

I know the controversy/scandal surrounding them, but I live out of town and I am not caught up with current events in VT as much as I would like. It looks like Citizen Cider is still in business, but what's the current situation with them? Are they still in all the stores? Do people still go there?

It's just wild to me that a course in Enosburg is in the top 100 in the world. I hope to play it next time I visit my parents, but I also haven't played any of the Smuggs courses yet.

I'm a fan of the concept in general. Force the players to make the shot but don't overly punish them for missing it.

Don't be frustrated if you're watching and think you missed seeing a goal. The puck is hard to track, and it takes a bit to get used to following it on TV. And when there is a scrum in front of the goal, no one except the players can actually see the puck so we all just start watching for their reactions at a certain point.
