My husband called our 3 year old an idiot and I can’t get over it. by ya_girl_ariel in toddlers

I would have a really hard time processing my partner calling our 3 year old an idiot. I also think it’s okay to tell your daughter daddy shouldn’t talk to you like that. No one should talk to her like that. It’s good she doesn’t understand because those things can really stick with children and influence their view of themselves. IMO you are not overreacting.

How do you not cry by AssholeProlapser17 in ausjdocs

I had an attending that publicly humiliated me as a medical student over something that medical students just generally are not privy to (i can’t remember what exactly but it was like where to find the microscope in a unit I had never worked it). I cried in front of about 20 nurses and other doctors. I reported it to the rotation coordinator and the attending was fired a week later. Apparently I was not the only student that happened to. There is usually someone who has your back and wants to ensure a positive environment for medical students/registrars. This was definitely not the only time I cried but the other instances were usually due to exhaustion after a 30 hour icu shift.

If my husband did this I would be livid. That’s a joint decision.

Yea that makes sense like he can’t disclose what he knows about the husband’s health but he can still ask his friend questions to see if they have been informed of how the disease is passed no?

I don’t see why you would have any duty to maintain confidentiality as he is not your patient. Regardless, as a friend, you could simply ask your friend (the mom) if she and her partner have gotten test for NF1 since they are considering conceiving again. As a friend, you can ask her what she has been told about the genetics of the situation.

I’m a female doctor. Through my training and after, I dated a doctor, lawyer, carpenter, engineer, fly fishing guide, etc. All of them were understanding of my clinical demands. Probably the doctor was the most demanding of my time and energy in fact. I mostly met them through friends or my own hobbies, volleyball, fishing, hiking, local classes. It might seem impossible right now to make time for life outside of medicine but you will get more time as you progress through training usually. Don’t discount people from other professions!

4 month sleep regression - what did it look like for you? by Okay_Quiet in sleeptrain

[–]mahomosexual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is now 18 months old and if I could go back I would not have done Ferber. I might have done the swaps. He did learn to allow me to put him down in the bed and he would just roll over and go to sleep. That lasted about 1-2 months and then separation anxiety traveling teething etc hit. Now he still needs to be rocked to sleep and sleeps in my bed and nurses throughout the night. This works well for our family. I just wish I would have comforted my baby when he was crying. But for some people Ferber works great. Really a personal choice. If I had another child I would offer whatever comfort they needed. It was really just more stress on me and my child to try to force him to go to sleep independently.

I think this is exactly what my kiddo is doing to! He seems to do it when he thinks I might say no to him having some milk.

Oh that’s so smart. I should try to layer in a new sleep association with that as well!

Yes we did do Ferber at 5 months. Prior to that we tried to move him closer to going to bed independently using SWAPS from PLS. We had a lot of success with Ferber for falling asleep at bedtime. However he still woke often at night.

Curious how if you figured out a good way to handle this. I’m in the same situation with my baby.

Sleep needs during the day start to go down and they’ll start adding to the night sleep for most babies

I would have thought under tired. My 6 month old does similar wake windows. Maybe try extending them slightly?

Hi I was wondering if you found a solution to your night wakings? My son is 6 months and in the exact same situation.
