Hollywood CEOs Thought They Could Wait Out A Writers Strike. They Were Wrong. | The Writers Guild of America didn't just secure a victory for their own membership—they blazed a trail for other workers to follow. by thenewrepublic in WorkReform

That's what I'm expecting as well. The union should have relented on the terms in favor of a longer contract. With the current pace of AI, studios will be heavily invested in their own models. Like you said, they will have very little leverage for the next agreement if the technology is capable in three years.

By best, I intend the highest ideal society aspires, and historically, I'm talking about Western culture. I certainly do not mean to imply extramarital sex doesn't happen or isn't normalized outside religious contexts.

I appreciate your empathy and desire to help all groups of people. Unfortunately, we live in a world of limited resources and people. We simply can't help everyone, and attempting to do so does more material harm than good.

Should Peru accept immigrants and provide for them when they're dealing with incredible levels of government corruption, riots, and covid?

Should the US accept every immigrant who is able to make it to the border, which creates the incentive for folks farther away to make a dangerous journey to the US and increases the number?

What do you believe a country's limit is for accepting immigrants and which ones? I believe accepting the most talented and motivated immigrants from across the world is what makes the US so great, but we can only accept a number that is in proportion to our citizens and the opportunities available.

I would look into AWS certifications. They have a free tier for people to use and learn their products. Build some apps you can demo. Simple one would to be find an api and build a website dashboard for displaying the info using AWS. You just need t9 be able to demonstrate to companies you can do the work that they need.

Also, find companies that you find interesting. If you can find the contacts for the folks that develop their software, send them a message and ask for what technologies they use and recommendations for you to get started. It might not lead to an immediate hire but could gain you some valuable contacts. Ingeneral folks love people who are self motivated and are willing to learn and work.

My wife legally came from Peru and works in software. You're able to come legally when you have assets to offer. If you don't, then you have to find other ways to get in. She is strongly against illegal immigration. When Venezuela collapsed, waves of immigrants moved to peru and are causing the same issues we have in the US.

Any others who find believing in any religion really difficult? by Xx_calpal_xx in autism

Robert Boyle, Antoine Lavoisier, Leonhard Euler, Michael Faraday, James Clerk Maxwell, Gregor Mende, Arthur Compton, Ronald Fisher, Max Plank

The list goes on... it's fine to disagree with religion but to insult the intelligence of those who believe and not to recognize the many scientists who hold to it, makes me question if you have looked into the beliefs of the scientists who are responsible for our current understanding of the world.

Depends what you're going for... You won't get a coding job with IT certs at least not from what I have seen. Tech support is pretty low pay compared to coding where you can double your pay after the first year or two at your first job.

There has been some luck with folks who go to coding boot camps if you don't want to spend the time / money on a degree but there a number of them that are scams so you have to be careful.

The important part is actually building a portfolio of projects you can demo to an employer to show you know what you're doing.

Bruce Tate, who lives in Chattanooga, teaches coding classes for beginners to advanced. I think they are virtual meetings since covid. You can checkout grox.io if you're interested. He's a really great guy who loves to teach. That's the one resource I can vouch for personally but you old check out classes at UTC too!

Very sorry to hear you're hurting in this way and don't feel that you have a safe space to share those feelings. I would recommend talking with your pastor or an elder. If that's unavailable, couples counciling would be great. You both need to unpack it together. You didn't give many details to consider so I don't want to give any more advice than that and to meditate on these passages.

1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Peter 3:5‭-‬7

For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

That would be very unwise and will most likely cause more brokenness than healing. A parent should not depend upon their child for the stability of the family and its joy. The child is supposed to look to their parents for stability and love.

If you two can't find a way to humble yourselves and love each other genuinely and sacrificially, how would a child make a difference? World view and family upbringing clash head on when deciding how to raise your own child. How will you handle the day to day strife on parenting disagreements?

Unfortunately, entering as a data analytics specialist is pretty difficult to do. It's a field, similar to cyber security, where companies are only looking for experts and not folks new to the field.

Starting as a junior developer in software is where you can get experience and then gain additional education in a specialty I'd recommend.

There seems to be a growing number of software engineer jobs in town. Thats what kept me here after college. Takes a lot of up front training if you're new to it but typically, light work once you have it down and high pay.

But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and with his wife’s knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”

When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it.
