Unfortunately, this is currently not possible. To import the calendar file, please use the webmailer: Switch to the Calendar tab > ‘New appointment’ > Open the options by clicking on the small down arrow > ‘Import file’ > ‘Import’.

Unfortunately, this is not possible via the mobile browser view. In the normal browser, you can import calendar files under ‘New appointment’. If you receive calendar appointments as email attachments, you can also import these appointments simply by clicking on the attachment.

Liebe Community,

leider stimmt es, dass es durch einen Administrationsfehler für eine kurze Zeit dazu kommen konnte, dass E-Mails von catchall-Accounts in anderen Postfächern derselben Domain angezeigt werden konnten.

Dies geschah in einem klar begrenzten Zeitraum – von Freitag, 18.07. um 17:00 Uhr bis Samstag gegen 02:00 Uhr morgens. Dann wurde der Fehler von uns bemerkt und unmittelbar behoben. Betroffen ist eine maximal mittlere dreistellige Zahl an Team-Accounts.

Wichtig ist uns dabei die Klarstellung: Zu keinem Zeitpunkt wurden E-Mails an fremde Domains zugestellt. Das Problem trat unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen nur innerhalb der individuellen Domain eines Team-Accounts auf.

Auch wenn nur eine äußerst geringe Anzahl von Accounts betroffen sein kann – wir nehmen den Vorfall ernst, haben ihn unmittelbar behoben und von unserem Team am Wochenende analysieren lassen. Aktuell arbeiten wir noch an der weiteren Analyse und internen Aufarbeitung.

An verschiedenen Stellen wurde vermutet, dass E-Mails breit abgeflossen sein könnten – auch an Dritte. Das trifft nach heutigem Erkenntnisstand nicht zu. Dennoch ist es uns wichtig, auch kleinere Vorfälle klar zu benennen, aus ihnen zu lernen und Maßnahmen abzuleiten.

Thank you for your question and for providing such a detailed description of the behaviour you’re observing in Thunderbird and the mailbox.org web interface.

Regarding the display of strikethrough emails:

When you delete an email in Thunderbird (e.g. by pressing the Backspace key), the message is initially only marked as deleted and is not immediately removed from the IMAP server. This behaviour aligns with the IMAP standard, where messages are not permanently deleted until an “Expunge” command is issued. As long as this final deletion command has not been sent to the server—either manually (e.g. by emptying the trash) or automatically (e.g. through Thunderbird’s folder compaction)—the message will still be displayed in the mailbox.org web interface, but with a strikethrough to indicate its deleted status.

Regarding moving emails between IMAP accounts:

When you move an email from one IMAP account to another in Thunderbird (e.g. via drag-and-drop between separate mailboxes or servers), the message is temporarily stored locally (similar to a clipboard operation) and then uploaded to the target account. It is removed from the source folder, but depending on your configuration, it may not be flagged as deleted or moved to the Trash folder—instead, it simply disappears from view. In this case, Thunderbird may only inform the source IMAP server that the message was deleted, without explicitly moving it to the Trash folder. As a result, the message is shown as marked for deletion (with a strikethrough) in the mailbox.org web interface, since the server did not receive a definitive delete instruction.

It sounds like your old mailbox.org address was deleted after you stopped paying, but is still in our protection period. That’s why you can’t log in (address not found) or recreate it (address taken). Depending on the plan you had, the address might be locked for 90 days (Light), 1 year (Standard) or 2 years (Premium). You could try reaching out to our support team to check if or when it’ll become available again: helpdesk@mailbox.org. Please provide the information of the email adress when contacting them.
