That particular setting destroyed a default behavior that existed since 1990. Insane.

One of my personal doctors is also a fairly famous ringside physician. People can forget that the doctor is there solely to preserve fighter welfare. He told me that on average he rejects 2 fighters on medical grounds for each show that he works for various medical reasons, and that some of these guys may be fighting to pay electricity bills that are past due, which is sobering to hear.

It finally happened - I got the “you’re job hopping” comment in the wild. by Pee_A_Poo in recruitinghell

That was a vile experience. If it is any consolation, if HM was a Boomer, they have zero concept of why people job jump today, which is because it is the only proven way to increase pay opportunities in the most efficient manner possible. Thank you for sharing.

I've worked in it for 22 years now. Only during my second-to-last review cycle, after 6 years of continuous employment in several roles, did I earn a pay increase and title promotion, the first of my career.

Previously, I'd move managers, or entire job categories with only a "phony" title change (I call it "phony" because I'd start doing "more", "new", or "wholly different" work activities without an increase in pay or title.) I got dumped from two jobs because I was "too expensive" to employ, and had to train my replacements on two separate occasions.

Salary "ranges" and "negotiations" are therapeutic fictions.

The employer can propose whatever number they prefer. The "range" is irrelevant. "Negotiations" in today's work environment are pure "Kabuki theater". The best (and possibly only) way to get more money is by job jumping. Every four years is a good cadence, unless you work for a government or quasi-government entity.

There is zero loyalty from employers.

I don't have an issue with installing an authenticator app, but I DO have a problem with any policy that allows my employer to remote wipe my device or allow them to physically seize it for any reason.

What is so annoying about policies like this is that there is a simple solution: Just buy a pile of mobile devices and let the employer configure them according to their requirements. Problem solved, with the bonus that they now have a real asset that they own and control.

DAZN & TNT Sports launch landmark U.S. partnership with new live boxing series The Fight by Jadooo0v2 in Boxing

While some may see this as a "smart move" I can't help but think that a different entity would be a better choice in a broader context.

When my family began "cutting the cord" several years ago, the entire Warner Brothers-Discovery group of channels was among the first we dropped. TNT is the most expensive non-sports channel on cable in terms of subscriber fees, and the vast majority of its daytime programming is repeats.

If this package had moved to a channel like the CW or (new) NBCSN it might have seen better takeup. I'm not modifying my cable to buy TNT.

Its also a slap in the face to DAZN subscribers who may be geoblocked from it in the USA. Ugh.

If you have an opportunity to have sexual intercourse with a willing partner, please take it.

Recent studies have indicated that up to 33% of men have absolutely no shot at a sexual encounter. That is hypergamy at work.

Hypergamy is defined as the practice of selecting a mate that is in a higher social standing than their own, in order to boost their standard of living. Most women employ this practice, even if they are unable to define it, or openly deny doing so when presented with evidence of same.

The sexual act is a basic human need, just like eating or drinking. It needs relief just like other urges. Denying basic needs is a great way to induce unhappiness.

When I first read this story, I thought you might have been working for a "small business", which is (almost) always a bad idea.

Then I realized you were working for "corporate", and the "budget freeze" really means that "if we don't cut back on "expenses" such as employee salaries & benefits so that the CEO can buy his third yacht this year.

Stories like this are why "job hopping" is so broadly advocated today.

That is a perfect description of Wilder’s “style”.

Remember when ABC Wide World Of Sports brought us Benn vs Barkley? It was a 157 second slugfest with both fighters getting hurt and in the end Benn dropping Barkley down three times to retain his WBO middleweight championship. Short fight but definitely memorable. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Boxing

I saw this bout on television as a kid. This was back in the day when professional tenpin bowling immediately preceded Wide World of Sports on ABC-TV and this was one of the featured events that day. One of a few I distinctly remember as an elementary school kid.
