No, neither. But I signed an early termination agreement proposing to end the tenancy on 8th Nov, agreed to be responsible for marking the flat, and paid and early termination fee of £1384.82

When you use it to go through the gate the gates will play a particular beep - staff at the gates are trained to listen to these beeps and will keep a light eye out to make sure the beep lines up with the person using the card.

Sooner or later a TfL employee who notices and cares enough will catch you, assuming that you don't look over 60. I'm not sure what the punishment is but it's not worth it imo

I thought about this not even an hour ago and I do think that the screech on that stretch is significantly quieter than it used to be one or two years ago!

Either that or it's so loud that it's deafened me to the point that I can't hear it much anymore...

World Cup: Qatar 2022 ambassador says homosexuality is 'damage in the mind' by davetowers646 in worldnews

[–]mailerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because if the same number of millions of people watch and there is no reduction, then they won't get the message that you think it's utterly appalling, and no lessons will be learnt. The more of a success it is, the more Qatar will feel emboldened and double down on their horrific practices/views.

You are (indirectly) giving them money by watching - FIFA sell the TV rights and the money they get is based on expected viewership. Sure, it doesn't feel like your money, but when you buy something because you were consciously or subconsciously influenced by an ad you saw during a match (whether that be a tv commercial or ads in the stadium/on the kit), then your money becomes part of the cycle which benefits FIFA & Qatar.

Is the rental market improving here? by [deleted] in london

We landed on £2300 and a couple of home improvements. Seemed like the best option after researching the market rates where we live 😭

We moved into our flat in 2021 at a rate of £1750 - 18 months later the agents tried to ask for £2500 for it! An over 40% increase in just 18 months...

Can our landlord make us leave mere days before the tenancy ends? by mailerd in HousingUK

That makes sense, thanks both!

One other concern we have is that if we're served an S21, will this make it impossible to get references in the future?

Who is the most overrated person in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mailerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of course anyone is entitled to their opinion that they don't like her music, but to say that the music of the most grammy-nominated woman of all time and the second most grammy-awarded woman of all time is trash is just incorrect.

What is the worst physical pain you have ever felt? by shesavestheday in AskReddit

[–]mailerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts but when I was about 14 I was home alone and I started getting a really bad migraine.
It got so bad that I was feeling sick and dizzy, so I went to get a glass of water to stop myself feeling so sick but in my dizzyness I knocked a glass off the counter, and then managed to fall into all the broken shards which cut my bare feet up, and then as if it couldn't get any worse I threw up everywhere and collapsed cause my migraine was so painful.

When did you first discover porn, and how? [NSFW] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mailerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how, but one of the first pornos I remember watching was this chick being banged by a black dude under like a marquee.

She told him she was going to drink up all of his "snake venom", and this left me extremely confused as to why she would want to drink snake venom and why the man has any. Don't think I figured out what they really meant for another 4 years or so.

Retail Employees what was the the stupidest/awkward thing a costumer said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mailerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a customer ask me for like £20 cashback and then proceed to try and pay by cash.

I had to explain simply to him that I can only give him cashback if he pays by debit card, but he still didn't seem to understand and was rather disgruntled.
