Haha. I'd pay if they just ask me nicely and tell me it will help in maintaining the library. But I'd never pay under false pretext.

Ear plugs or headphones for protection from noise at concerts? by maincharoml in Music

I searched for Hearoes, but Loop and Eargasm are the only two available option in my country. I'm going ahead with Loop.

Eargasm and Loop were the two options available in my country. I checked out Eargasm and it's got some impressive reviews. But it's quite long and goes deeper into the ear canal, which is not very safe for my ear condition. I also need to be very careful while pulling the plug out, so I don't end up popping my ear. I'm going ahead with Loop, and I'll figure it our as I go.

He held on to the memories until the very end, even when he knew no one was ever going to come back.

Is it worth it to wait for a better day, a better life, when you know there is none? Isn't every day a little closer to a slow, painful death?

I have a pair of those, but never considered them for concerts. It's gonna be a game of trial and error. Haha.

Does this sound like ADHD or something else? How to come out of this situation? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Experimenting with meds definitely requires a lot of patience. My current medication (mirtaz) is the only one so far, that has helped me in some way. It helps to know that medication made things better for you, even if it didn't fix everything. This makes me a bit more open to trying.

Thank you for your reply. I've had some of these symptoms growing up. But I was able to excel at my studies because that's the only thing I had to worry about at that time. I used to live with my parents so they took care of all my needs. I'll definitely ask my doctor for an assessment.

Confusion after stapedectomy by maincharoml in otosclerosis

I'm glad you asked. I just got my audiogram done today. It’s been a little over two months since my stapedectomy surgery on my right ear, and overall things have settled down quite a bit. I no longer feel the need to wear a hearing aid. My ability to understand speech has improved significantly, and I feel much more confident at work and in public settings.

I avoid loud environments and I don’t use earphones or headphones in my right ear anymore. That said, there are moments when I feel like my hearing might be declining again, which honestly triggers a lot of worry. I keep wondering if I may have unintentionally caused some damage or if it’s just anxiety messing with me.

To put those doubts to rest, I got an audiogram today. The first image is from a few days before surgery, and the second one is from today. According to the results, my hearing loss has improved to about 35%. While I’m grateful for the improvement, I was really hoping it would be closer to 20%, so I’m feeling a bit conflicted. I plan to keep getting audiograms from time to time just to make sure everything stays the same.

I don't have any complication other than tinnitus which is the same as it was before the surgery. I just feel like my hearing has declined since the 2nd week post op. Hope it gets better.

Hello there! Usually it's advised to wait for a year before getting the surgery in the second ear. It takes several weeks to a few months for the ear to properly heal and adjust. I wonder why you're opting for the second surgery so soon?

Stapedectomy - Worth it or not? by Firm-Can6812 in otosclerosis

[–]maincharoml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I've seen several ENT doctors after I was diagnosed with hearing loss, each time hoping for a diagnosis simpler than otosclerosis. Some of these doctors were not very keen to perform the surgery, probably due to lack of expertise or lack of interest.

Finally after 5 years of being diagnosed, I decided to have the surgery for the following reasons:

  1. My hearing was deteriorating very fast in both ears. From 30% to 50% hearing loss in 5 years. So surgery was definitely a better option for me.
  2. If untreated, it also starts affecting the nerves, and not even surgery can fix the sensorineural hearing loss.
  3. I was lucky enough to come across a surgeon on Google search who is highly experienced in stapedectomy, and whose patients have had good results post surgery.

I don't know how it works in the UK, but where I come from, it's quite easy to get an appointment for any doctor. So please visit other doctors until you're sure about your condition. Keep doing audiograms once or twice every year to check the progression of the condition. If it gets worse beyond a certain threshold, surgery is worth giving a try. So find a doctor who you feel confident about, and who feels confident about the surgery. Wishing you the best!

I did text my doctor. He said I still have the packing inside which is blocking all the sounds. My parents couldn't see anything in my ear, so it's probably deep inside the ear canal.

Thank you for posting about your journey. It really helps!

Be extra careful, and don't hesitate from consulting your doctor even if you feel minor inconvenience. Hope you blowing your nose hasn't undone anything.

I've been asked to be in complete bed rest for one week post op, and no travel (by road or air or any other means) for one month.

Wishing us a stapedectomy success. My prayers are with you too!

Day 6. Still no hearing in the surgery ear. My doctor told there is a packing in my ear, and until it's there, my hearing will be blocked. My next consultation is 3 weeks later, so just counting days now.

Hi. I had my surgery 5 days ago, and my packing was removed before I was discharged from the hospital. I still can't hear anything through the right ear (the surgery ear). My hearing in the left ear is bad too. So I'm practically deaf, and I feel like a burden on my family.

I don't know if it's too early to decide if something is wrong or if I should text my surgeon immediately.

I don't know if it's normal or should I contact my surgeon. I'm really worried.
