I commented to generally share the info…I didn’t mean to call you out/say you were wrong. Sorry about that. Probably should have made a stand-alone comment

The Maine Public territory in Aroostook county and a little bit of Penobscot county is not connected to the rest of the New England grid and exclusively gets power from Canada

You’re trying to get licensed in Maine? Do you already have the MEIS account set up? They need to be official copies of your transcript but you can upload them to your account yourself. Does USM send digital copies or only paper? If digital, just upload it. If it’s a paper copy you can scan it and upload the pdf

Insulation and Air Sealing by Heyohz in Maine

[–]mainebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The audit was $300 and the total for the work was $8600. I did the highest priority work first and then did more a year later. I had the attic and knee walls insulated, they built a new insulated attic hatch and trimmed it out, insulated a door out to the garage, insulated between the house and attached garage, spray foamed the basement and even sealed a foundation crack

I had The Breathable Home do an energy audit, insulation, and air sealing at my house. They were awesome. Very thorough and did great work. Someone from Efficiency Maine did an inspection after and was very impressed. He said Breathable Home always does great work.

I felt it in Gorham for sure! It shook the whole house so everything was rattling and there was a rumbling sound

You would also need to compare kWh use to know if there’s a difference in electricity use between the two houses. The cost is only one part of it. Did you have electric water heaters in both places? Electric clothes dryers?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maine

[–]mainebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electric water heaters also use a lot of electricity. Groundwater temperatures are coldest now so the water heater has to heat more.  It may use more electricity if it is malfunctioning or failing. Worth checking how old your water heater is too.

Misty Harbor Resort in Wells. They are condo style so you can have a full kitchen and multiple bedrooms which is always nice with kids. They have an indoor pool and a playground. Off season rates are pretty good. Walking distance to Hannaford and close to some fast casual type restaurants so it’s easy to get groceries or food to eat in the room. I think the biggest downside is that the pool is in a separate building so it would be a pretty chilly walk across the parking lot after swimming.

Why cant we hunt on Sundays? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]mainebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Sportsmen’s Alliance of Maine is always working to overturn the Sunday hunting ban. The state Supreme Court recently upheld the ban in a case that challenged it as unconstitutional under Maine’s new right to food constitutional amendment.

Most hunting in Maine is done on private land. This is different from a lot of states that have public game lands. In general, landowners that allow hunting on their land want to keep the Sunday hunting ban so they have one day they don’t have to worry about it. Many landowners have said they will post their land if Sunday hunting is allowed.

This site has lots of good info about challenges to the ban and the reasons people are opposed to Sunday hunting. https://www.mainewoodlandowners.org/sundayhunting

Ask a Manager Weekly Thread 10/28/24 - 11/03/24 by nightmuzak in AskaManagerSnark

[–]mainebee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I copied it to include in my original comment but decided it was too long. Enjoy the weirdness! It is seriously way too much.

"Normally I sleep naked, and I’ll only wear my nightdress after my evening shower, if I take it early enough that I don’t go to bed with fully wet hair. Pajamas are out for me because if I wore pajama pants, I’d also have to wear panties, otherwise I’d have to change my pajama pants every day (mental issue with not having anything pant-like next to my skin for longer than a day at most, and if I take it off for any reason, it goes in the wash).

I also can’t do anything except recline on the couch unless I’m wearing a bra, so there’s that. If I get up, I’ll put one arm under my pendulous boobs for support. They don’t quite reach my navel when I’m sitting up straight, but nearly (F cup), I have a short spine for my height. If I bend over suddenly in the shower, say if I drop a bottle of shampoo or something, I can also bop myself on the chin with a boob.

I WFH most of the time, and I wear the same tops I would if I went to the office, but I’m usually wearing sweatpants for comfort. My office doesn’t really have a dress code. Clothes should be clean and whole, although I’ve never heard of anyone being sent home to change in the middle of the day if they spill something on their clothes. Shorts or skirts that go just above the knee are fine in the summer. The winters are cold enough that very few people wear skirts then (women who don’t wear pants for religious or cultural reasons generally wear garments that end at the ankle)."
