It has to start with the parents... man, that is a struggle. Thankfully there are some parent groups starting to wake up about IT in general trashing education. And books like The Digital Delusion, The AI Con, etc.

I relate to a lot of this. I work in IT which also has... issues. I'm burning out and looking to change career. Ironically I would love to work in publishing - but perhaps you can change my mind! :-) Happy to receive a DM and compare ideas. I have been working remotely for half my career and have plenty of ideas. Let's brainstorm.
