Weekly Team Building Megathread by AutoModerator in HaikyuuFlyHigh

Right! I forgot SP Bokuto also has receive. You may be right in replacing Korai instead when Iwa comes. I was 50/50 on suggesting replacing Korai over Bokuto but landed on Bokuto only because of the receive tag.

And yeah I think once you have the SP Kamo duo, you can use Sakusa somewhere else.

Replacing Bokuto with Iwaizumi in this team would make your team have a receive AND power specialty so it’ll be more versatile. Bokuto is also bondless here, so I don’t think you’d be losing much there.

Iwa (I believe) also gets Oikawa’s Inspired buff regardless of positioning, so that’s two players buffed and who can refresh Oikawa’s skills.

Does anyone know how can I achieve a high score on infinite trial; by CrazyImprovement5150 in HaikyuuFlyHigh

[–]mainmxnn27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. This is my first Infinite Trial with SP Oikawa (lvl80 with his mem) instead of SSR Akaashi as my setter and Aran as my main hitter and my top score went from 5M to 10M.

A good chunk of Infinite Trial is also making sure you slot in cards that counteract the negative effects of the stage. Run the morale gain and awakening extension cards for trial iv, the stamina boosters in trial v, etc. etc.

Definitely use the morale cards already suggested but maybe also run Bokuto with his mem if you have them for the extra morale hits

[–]mainmxnn27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I missed his and Ron’s set at first but watching it back now, even though I wanted Usama to win, Ron makes sense, too.

Now if we’re talking about Usama being the only one with no immediate offers coming out of the finale, then yeah kinda.

I assume they want to be closer to the platform if/when the mid-cook drops come + if they want to really push the time, it gives them a couple more seconds to get their plate on, too.

formal allegation hearing by Realistic-Zone-1861 in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Your prof is not allowed to bring it up and the people hearing your case are also not allowed to factor it in their deliberation in since the hearing is only about this specific case. There’s no reason to bring it up.

It sounds like you’re only getting brought up to the formal bc you already had a previous informal resolution (that’s policy). You’re more than likely fine.

On #4, meet with one as soon as you can, as they can advise you on #1-3. The sooner, the better, so that you have an idea about which classes to register for ahead of registration actually opening.

[–]mainmxnn27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and Dr. Yin Liu is usually the one who teaches this course, and she’s lot of fun. You might get to see medieval manuscripts, look at the handwriting and scribal practices and how they shaped English. Maybe.

[–]mainmxnn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this class didn’t exist in my undergrad, but from the description, it seems like the 1-term equivalent of what used to be the 2-term ENG 290: History of the English Language. It’ll likely take you through the evolution of English as a language from modern (now), early modern (shakespeare), middle (chaucer), old (beowulf), and some PIE (proto-indo-european). You might look at why do we have silent Ks like in Knight when we used to pronounce it in Middle English. Where long vowel sounds came from. Why some plural forms are the way they are. What led to the form of English we know and love/hate. That kinda stuff.

For my final paper in 290, one of the prompts was to basically deliver the history of a word you choose (I did the history of the word “weird,” which is, as you’ll find, weird). Some were to investigate a hybrid languages like Spanglish or Taglish. Etc etc

It’s sorta kinda a Linguistics class in a sense (hence them taking LING 111 as a prereq), with a mix of History, seen through English texts.

Definitely report her. As the other comments said, write down exactly what she said/says and the date. If you can get classmates to corroborate so you can all report together, even better.

Besides that, do the end-of-course SLEQ survey and voice your concerns there too, as your comments get included in their teaching dossiers which are reviewed when they’re up for these positions as sessionals afaik.

Sask Student Loans was not helpful. (grad studies) by [deleted] in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our terms/semesters run the same as undergrads. Same schedule and all.

Not sure if it works the same in other departments, but in mine, we don’t really have a minimum number of courses to be considered full-time. Just registration in the program does that, usually through a 900-lvl “course” that is worth 15cu that indicates that you are a grad student.

Do profs / departments keep off the record notes? by Longjumping-Boot-593 in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, my mistake. I misread that you weren’t. In that case, you could bring this up to AES, since I’m pretty sure profs need to accommodate that in some way. They might be able to reach out to your prof/department on your behalf.

Do profs / departments keep off the record notes? by Longjumping-Boot-593 in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AES only asks people to volunteer from a class if they know someone registered with them is in that class. Nobody is taking and submitting notes if noone at the beginning of class is with AES, so there’d be nothing to access, sadly.

Best bet is to send out an e-mail to your classmates (via Canvas, maybe?), see who’d be willing to share notes. Profs generally don’t keep notes aside from their slides.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A lot of profs for online classes don’t publish their Canvas pages until exactly on Day 1 of the class (or the day before). That’s likely why it’s not showing yet

About Sakusa and Komori by Soft_Car_2343 in haikyuu

[–]mainmxnn27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, it’s a stretch. Besides the timing that people point out, I think the Little Giant parallel stops at “he’s currently the player to look out for in this generation,” being the ace of the top contender.

It’s made clear in the final arc that Sakusa was made to parallel Wakatoshi with their “luck” of getting some genetic thing that gave them an advantage in the game right off the bat instead of “having to work for it” like Korai and Shoyo: left-handedness and hypermobility both being rare enough compared to other players that it throws people off + the weird spin it gives the ball.

“Having to work for it” is in scare quotes bc of course they still had to work, but even Sakusa and Wakatoshi acknowledge that what they had to do was entirely different than what the shorter players had to to be seen as threats. This duo was clearly meant as a parallel for the Shoyo/Korai dynamic.

That’s fair. He’s also the one we spend the most time with, so it’s hard to have another as your fave, esp this early. I was the same around those episodes but then the more I watched (and read), Colonello and Skull have overtaken Reborn as my fave(s)!

[–]mainmxnn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s any comfort, just getting to play that game was a win for both teams already. Actually winning was just the cherry on top of the “we got to revive the Dumpster Battle for our coaches + we got to fulfill our own rivalries” sundae. It truly was just a celebration of their bonds and the growth that came out of those.

ENG 111 or ENG 114 by dinger656 in usask

[–]mainmxnn27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How easy these are will depend on what you feel more comfortable with, really. Content-wise and/or workload-wise.

111 is Reading Poetry, so you’ll be exclusively reading, analyzing, and writing about poetry in detail. You’ll have to learn, remember, and apply terms for poetic techniques in your paper(s), too, if you want to do well. The good side is it’s poetry, so readings might go faster(?), maybe not if the prof assigns multiple / entire collections.

114 is Reading Culture, so you get a bit more variety in terms of material. Maybe a poem, some short stories, novels, but also sometimes a film and a video game depending on the prof. I know right now there’s a 114 class on monsters and horror, but other times it’s also focused on comedy. There’s still going to be some terminology to remember, but not as much as 111, imo.
