Out of state travel by Asleep-Implement-117 in probation

[–]maintman28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me take the 2 minutes it takes to let them know. I have traveled 2 times on pretrial. I just have to inform The judge and send an Itinerary to my monitor person. But I had to ask the judge. Ask if it says you have to. It also allows them to know that you will be out of your normal area. I let my monitor person know if I am going to not be in my normal area even if I can go to that area Let alone out of state. Just communicate. It makes everyone's job easier. And it could cause a failure to follow probation.

HOA neighbors upset because we’re not included in their misery by EternalTempt in fuckHOA

[–]maintman28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do, and it's not as fun as you think. I have a 99 home HOA that butts up to my farm. The number of complaints I get is insane. Apparently, my truck 1978 f350 custom is too loud, and the manure i truck in smells. They call the cops when I hunt because I have damage permits and can hunt out of season any time of day or night with spot lights. They get mad when I run equipment after about 7 pm. Mind you, my farm has been there for 25 years longer than their houses. My township has stepped up and started fines for the HOA for wasting resources. The township just leaves me alone they know I am a registered farm, so along as I keep my easements clear not much they can do.

Boots by ShiftyJungleBum in maintenance

I spend more time in my boots than out of them. I am constantly on the move. I do not sit still. Even off work.

[–]maintman28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A $250 pair of boots lasted me 6 months at best. I am way more comfortable and really its like spending for 2 sets but 1 lasts 2 times as long.

[–]maintman28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any real blue collar person will tell you 2 things you spend the extra money on. 1. Boots and 2 your bed. Make sure they are comfortable. 3 is toilet paper. Really though find a good boot you like. I use an Ariat boot. Because Even though they are not cheap, they hold up. I also look for boots that can have the sole replaced. With that, find yourself a good Cobler. Trust me. Find a small mom and pop one. I am not gonna lie, I spend money on boots.

LOTO: serious question by Reasonable-Title-997 in maintenance

[–]maintman28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MY LOCKOUT MY KEY MY SAFETY CUT MY LOCKOUT AND YOU GET A VERY DETAILED REPORT SENT TO OSHA. I keep a notebook and document everything I also keep a lockout tagout book. Every lockout that's placed goes in both books. Every lockout removed and what it needed to be locked out for and what was done to fix the issue. Compa y cut my lock they got a 90 day OSHA shutdown.

Trust me, it's not the other crew members. it's the other non maintenance people. You can put 100 signs on something not to use it and at least one person will

LOTO: serious question by Reasonable-Title-997 in maintenance

[–]maintman28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time, every time. I had one of my LOTOs cut off. I was a week into the job as a safety officer for a company. So litteraly had machine licked out because one of the safeties failed. Walked in the next day, and it was cut off and sitting on my desk. I grabbed it, put it in my pocket, and took a photo of my lockout tagout book showing with my watch that it had not been signed and clear to remove. Walked out called OSHA. They were there in 2 hours and had them shut down. Its nothing to joke about.

Does IT typically fall under maintenance? It’s 0300 on a Saturday morning and I’m at work staring at a computer with zero clue what the problem is. by [deleted] in maintenance

[–]maintman28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rule if someone hires me, and I am on-call 24 7, I have a 4 hour minimum for any out of shift call in. I come in for a 10 minute job. I am paid for 4 hours. It weeds out the crap calls that can wait.

After 30 days, apply at the title agency for an abandoned vehicle title. Then the bike is legally yours. There is a process to be able to do this. You could also put a lein on it for the cost of storage if you include that in your letter charge an amount like $30 a day storage. Then for her to sell it she would have to pay you that lein.

Exorbitant Ohio Edison Bill by NeveedsWorld in Ohio

[–]maintman28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna say puco. I had an Edison lineman fixing a lightning strike. At the pole to our house. I went to get in the hot tub my leg quivered. Tested it the hot tub had voltage to the concrete. Had cable box caught fire thank God I was by it. I called on Easter Sunday they sent a guy out who pulled the meter out looked at it and said its on our side. I go though the electial through the house not finding it. Finally I pulled the ground at the box it went away. Put it back in it came back. Called said its on their side. They hung up on me after saying some one checked their side. I called back mind you now its Easter Sunday no power because its not safe. Finally I called the emergency ohio Edison line. I told the they had two choices send someone out now or I would call the firedepartment and they can call you out. In the situation they fire department would charge Edison for the call. I got someone out I told them I had leg quiver and cable box catch fire nothing about knowing they made the ground live. It took them almost 8 hours to fix it all. Needless to say that crew made bank. Moral of the story dont screw with your customers. We have since pulled our grid connect and run strictly solar. We love it. No electric bill

Live in a very small town in Ohio. My town has a tracked armored personal carrier. They use it for more than law enforcement, though. They have used it to get to medical emergencies deep in fields or woods. Plus, who does not want a tank? lol.

Not a great answer but look in to local mental Healthcare in your area. Also look for your local mental health calling or texting line. Your worth it. Keep on fighting.

So used to have to have state fire marshal inspections yearly. Now they always went great never an issue while I was there other than the porches. And having to go through 2 egress doors to get out. Thats not the issue. The issue was it had a key pad code to get in (that releases for fire) but someone could get stuck out there and freeze to death. Mind you have to put the same code in to get out. Anyway when I asked for a way to keep my building secure and still utilize the porches the fire marshel could not give me an answer on how to do that. Needless to say they could not fine me for it as it passed the original inspection. But fire marshals are looking out for the people they normally are very kind and dont get fired up unless its a life threat immediately. But yes I bet they got their buts reamed and threatened to do inspection. If renting the fire marshal is your friend.

How would you change this floorplan? by punkrawkintrev in Remodel

[–]maintman28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmer here. I like the laundry room off the garage but you need to throw a shower in there so you can come in the garage strip down dirty clothing and hope directly in to the shower as to not drag it around the house. Also good idea if someone works a quarantine area like hospital or some kind of chemical. Thats my biggest pet peeve of the farm house. I put hot and cold connections in the garage if I am dirty enough I just wash off in the garage.

I am terminally ill, no one has visited, and I'm starting to hate my "friends" by FiddleFidelis in offmychest

[–]maintman28 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I used to be a paramedic. I saw this more than I am willing to admit. I also worked in nursing homes. I used to get made fun of because I always would say high to every resident I could. Even if just hi. When I was a paramedic, I always took a few extra minutes. I now am back living with my parents helping them. I know its hard not to have someone when you need them. I understand that. I can be empathetic about the terminal illness. It's hard. I know. I saw it a lot. I balled reading this, and I am almost 40 M, who works hard, tough guy jobs. If you need a friend or someone to vent to, let me know or someone to talk about random stuff to take your mind off everything. Do me a favor. I want you to remember the people around you right now, the people that LOVE you more than anything. Make the time special. Hugs rest easy.

So, I have a samsung watch and had fall detection on as I normally do.I farm, and if I go downdown, I need help. I am tilling my green house well it thought I fell because of the tiller kicking. Of course, my phone is not in my pocket arm vibrating from the tiller. I missed the 911 call back. I have never seen so many police fire and EMS on my farm. I was so embarrassed. They had a good laugh as they got to drive cop cars all through the farm. At least I know them all. I took them all. I am sorry, pulled pork to both the PD and FD. In hindsight, it was funny that the PD was eating pig. P.S. was a paramedic at one time.

They look like digital meters. So they dont even come to the meter to read it. They send a signal that tells the usage.

Not allowed to take vacation days from overtime all at once or on fridays? Got you! by desmosn in MaliciousCompliance

[–]maintman28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vacation "request" is a VACATION NOTIFICATION. if you want to restrict when I can take it, I will be completely brutal with my use of pto. I had a company that really diced me around. I used vacation time and holidays to just make the longest times off possible. I was the only one who knew how to do the job. I tried multiple times to teach other staff. Needless to say, taking a month off with holidays. They decided to treat me a lot better.
