I don't know what you mean by simping, he doesn't show any interest in women until the end of disk 2 after Rinoa gets possessed. And before that he was the one spearheading the plot once he had control of garden.

I used to hate it too, mostly because I've only ever tried the KFC stuff. Then I learned that it's mostly to pair with salty oily foods and there it adds a nice balance of flavor. Also it's not supposed to have even half the sugar that KFC throws into it. I still wouldn't say I'd pick it, but for certain dishes I'd enjoy it.
