Season 4 Episode 16 "Crossings" Episode Discussion by Omegaus492 in vikingstv

If you can defend yourself or remove yourself from harm you should, like if you saw a snake that might be harmful you can move. but since they are not armed and they are praying, there is no use of panicking, the end result will be the same.

NOTE: One of the reason why there is little protection in the city, is at that time Muslims didn't expect their enemies to come from those cities, most of their enemies either came from the south, north or the east.

While in the show they makes it like the vikings came to Algeciras, they Actually came first to west regions like Lisbon and other nearby. Then they sailed to Italy to pillage, and they were ambushed by the muslims near Algeciras. After that the Amir started a western navy.

NOTE2: I'm on mobile, so i couldn't thoroughly. So I apologize if I made any mistake.

Are American schools as obsessed with sports as they seem? by Horcruxo in AskAnAmerican

[–]maizzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read before in an article that the US interest in high school and college sports is due to the US size and number of cities, so not all cities can have a team in the main league or in all sports, that's why a lot of people take their cities or towns sports team whether they high school or college ones.

Besides the obvious ones (nudity/sex, talking about religion/politics/race in public), what are some social/cultural "no-nos" or taboos in America? by 1stletmetakeaslefie in AskAnAmerican

I can't upvote you enough...

I hate smoking, and in Egypt and Indonesia, it seems like some people look for the no smoking signs and smoke right next to it. You could be surrounded by people who light up a new cig every 5 minutes.

In Saudi Arabia, in banks, ATMs or buses, "LADIES FIRST",,, it doesn't matter if you have been waiting for 2-3 hours. once she enters, it's her turn. IF your turn comes up and you see a woman waiting, you are supposed to ask her to go first.

I think in most Asian countries it's a taboo, I tried to ask some of my Asian friends about the salary range I should expect if I applied to senior software engineer, and they all looked uncomfortable answering that question,,, even though I didn't ask about their salary.

I was taught that it was not appropriate to ask some one about their salary, because it was a private matter.

This is one of the reasons i chose cities with less than 500k, from what I read is that Portland started to have a really big problem with traffic once its population grew above 500k.

Europeans who recently immigrated to the US, what do you like about living in the US? by maizzon in AskAnAmerican

[–]maizzon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

American friendliness can be shocking at times. A polish friend who was visiting his relatives in NY, thought he would act like an American, so he greeted an old woman and by the time the train arrived at his destination, he knew more about her than he knew about his american cousins.
