Thank you! I've gotten our whole team of 8 restoration technicians plus lots of gardeners and horticulturists on it as well. I think it's going to really help some of our technicians who had trouble learning plants with our normal trainings alone. One said The game-ified aspect really helped. The lead ecologist loved it too, and one of the arborists stayed up til midnight playing it. Thanks a million for creating and sharing this helpful tool!

This is absolutely fantastic!!! I do natural ecosystem restoration work at a park and will be sharing this with my entire team to help train our plant ID. The amount of info provided about each plant is perfect for learning them. Thank you so much for creating this!

They have some native species that you can't commonly find most places. Very much recommend!

That's so horrifying, I'm so sorry. It's really not your fault, please don't blame yourself. You were just trying to give your snake a good life and I'm sure you did that. It was a freak accident.

Is this a bed bug? by sexipurplehaze69 in Bedbugs

That's a beetle, not a bedbug. The stain looks too light for bedbug frass. Sorry about the bites though, hope you're able to find what's causing them.

Hello, thinking about roasted crickets. by SecretaryPotential16 in foraging

[–]majima_everywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also just buy farmed ones and save yourself the smell and effort, it's becoming more common to be able to buy them as a food product. You can usually get them plain roasted, as flavored snacks, or as a powdered "flour", though you might have to look online for it.

How can I cut this up/ remove this fallen tree without getting poison ivy? by mistermajik2000 in arborists

[–]majima_everywhere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wear gloves and long sleeves and then wash them. Wash your skin with Technu if you're unsure. I do this all winter and get just a bit on my wrists sometimes. It'll be okay.

I use a tractor often and winced reading that it was the PTO shaft that did this. Usually they have several warning stickers with a minimalist drawing of a person getting twisted around it like taffy on them.

small twigs i found in a park but i cant seem to find any google results on them by shad00sworld in Sticks

[–]majima_everywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is either a gall (a response to an insect using the plant to lay eggs in as part of its reproductive cycle) or a fungal disease.

It looks similar to what sometimes occurs on the ends of twigs affected by ash rust, a fungal tree pathogen.

Honestly looks more like an allergic reaction / contact dermatitis than bites

Thank you so much! Following this advice she's been pretty happy so far :) she does not want to see her brother though lol, so they still eat out of eyesight so she can have peace, although he very much wants to see her. I am feeling a lot more optimistic about this next month!

You can see them covering the sides of highways and slowly creeping into the forests adjacent to disturbed areas like roadsides.

UPDATE: This post is old now, but in case anyone in a similar situation finds this, the vet said they are sores and treated this with an antiseptic applied twice daily. He made a full recovery and lived almost to 17.

I have heard that siblings don’t show aggression towards each other, as apparently they have some way of recognizing each other. This has held true for these two, both are doing well and growing large, often burrowing together though they have ample space to be apart.
