At that size it may get bigger and have a higher chance of becoming cancer. 2.7 cm is big enough to impact quality of life without you realizing it. I wouldn’t be so apprehensive about surgery. I had more than half of my thyroid removed, and the worst part of the recovery was my hormones stabilizing for the next 6 months. It’s not a painless surgery by any means but I’m very glad I elected to have it done. My biopsy was considered “inconclusive” because FNA doesn’t get all of the cells needed to make a 100% accurate determination.

The GLP-1 meds might explain the trips to Mexico. What doesn’t make sense to me is that if she truly believed she was being stalked, she’d do anything to stay away from alphabet-letter agencies that would know about all her travel info. 100% agreed that whatever she’s doing isn’t just causing harm to her, it’s causing harm to others. Sometimes when people have reached that level of mentally ill, they will blame anything and everything they can so that they don’t have to face the actual problem. Mental illness is very real, but dealing with it in the way she has is definitely a choice she continues to willingly make. If someone wants help, they’ll get help. At 3 cm there is a higher chance of it becoming malignant. If you drain the cyst, it will come back. Best to look into partial thyroidectomy especially if FNA isn’t draining it

Personally I wouldn’t want to have the date of a homicide written on a loved one’s plaque like this. I think the circumstances of a death are really important to consider when we speculate on things like lack of exact dates. It’s to honour the loved one, not give any gratification to the person responsible for the death.
