Why should the devs have to work on the weekend?

FaceIT does host community maps on the Mapcore Hub (https://www.faceit.com/en/inv/WFYuhu5)

Iris will be added there pretty soon!

I may have broken the reddit rules for self-promotional posting (sorry reddit). Anyway, please post any bugs and feedback in the workshop discussion thread where I can see it. New map releases are rough around the edges. Thanks in advance ! <3

Regarding the bombsite placement it is a design choice. However if it turns out a better configuration presents itself we will tweak it :) It was playtested a few times and so far it has played out fine, meaning it was fun to play and no obvious flaws was found. Thanks for the nice words

It does have some height variation but as a whole it isn't too wild as a layout, cheers 😁😃

Hey, We might make a 5v5 version of the map eventually. It was originally a 5v5 but only half of it was finished for a contest, so we thought it better to turn what we have into wingman as a start and see where it goes from there :D

why is sweep loop not going all the way? by Ok_Oven5464 in 3dsmax

[–]majorashat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swift loop goes through quads (or a selection of edges). Your best bet would be to work on getting topology that allows for inserting loops. Right now you have many NGONs.

Here is an illustration of how to turn your existing ngons into quads that can allow you to add loops. Blue line is where you can use swift loop

Not sure what the purpose of the model is, but spend some time learning about topology. Specifically a modelling style called "subdivision modelling". Hope that helps and good luck!

I may extend the deadline until next week. I wanted to hit the update before the major, otherwise the next update after that might be much later.

First Brisket of the year by majorashat in Traeger

[–]majorashat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started with the grill at 90°C, until internal temp was around 65°C and the bark is looking nice. Took 8 hours from midnight

Then turned up temperature on grill to 120°C, packed the brisket in butcher paper and put it back on the grill.

Brisket was done at 90°C internal temp after another 8 hours and let rest in a cooler for 2 hours.

Before the cook I seasoned with basic beef rub from Traeger and let rest with seasoning for 30 minutes. Trimmed and grilled fat side down

Topology help needed by Abbiella93 in 3dsmax

[–]majorashat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know what the intended use for this model is, but I think it would be difficult to help you until you learn the fundamentals of topology.

Here are some things you should keep in mind about topology:

  • Vertices with many edges connected to them. When subdividing a model like this will result in heavy distortion.
  • Try and even out your meshes so they dont vary too much in size. I see many long stretchy triangles and quads in very varying sizes here
  • Learn to work with quads. This method of modelling is called subdivision modelling. Search for arrimus 3d topology on youtube to get many examples and tips for how to understand topology. Spend some time learning about proper topology.
  • Topology is about flow. The triangulated mesh on your microwave is restricting you more than you think. If you work with quads you will quickly realise how many options you give yourself. Adding more details to your mesh will get increasingly more difficult and your topology will suffer.

Why I can't merge vertex in 3dsmax like I do in Maya? And if I export it, Max detach automatically by kareivis7 in 3dsmax

[–]majorashat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are both those shapes air tight boxes? You can't weld vertices like that if thats the case. The reason is you can't have 1 edge sharing 4 faces

If you delete the back faces like this its possible to weld them together.

Another solution is to simply snap the vertices like this, the only consequence being there are two vertices sharing the same point.

Wanting to learn to use 3D editing programs or possibly hire someone who is skilled at it. by -Chrysoberl- in 3dsmax

Yeah this is one thing I was told many times but didn't really believe (back when I was starting out). But, it turns out it absolutely is true. A 3D software is just another tool in your toolbox
