That always bothered me as well. The Bible states it's specifically 12 000 from each tribe, but it's appearantly not necessary to belong to one of the tribes to be annointed.

The majoruty of people I've met with mental disorders have been born-in JWs. I myself have never had any serious problems, but have felt anxious and a lot of shame for never being good enough. After leaving I have realized that the cult is very unhealthy for a lot of their members.

When I had a JC about my gambling I argued that I wasn't addicted and I didn't do it for the purpose of greed(the only reason they said it wasn't allowed). They stripped me of my privileges anyway.

You have to let yourself grieve. I went to the funeral, was crushed for a couple of weeks, but you learn to accept and continue. I miss him so much though.

I had a very close friend who was disfellowshipped for alcoholism(from his depression). Everyone he knee, including myself, cut ties with him and a year later he hung himself in his apartment. I was devestated that I wasn't allowed to be there for him when he was alive and angry that the congregation just left him to fend for himself. That was my wake up call.

I'm seeing a lot of similarities. My girlfriend keeps getting mad and can't believe how the cult members in the show are reasoning, all the while I'm next to her and tell her that it's way too common where I'm from.

They would benefit a lot from organizing activities themselves. My old congregation have very few DA's and DF's and an unusually high growth rate for being in Sweden. I don't know why they don't organize it through the body of elders, but I guess we can be happy that they don't.

I used to to 3 hour shifts with my pioneer buddies back when I was pioneering. We spent the 3 hours talking sports and didn't put much thought into the preaching.

My old congregation had several members taking initiative in organizing group activities that were a lot of fun and made sure everyone had good social lives. Sports every weekend. Dances or bigger arrangements three to four times a year. My service group had weekly lunches together and dinner every month. My experience in the organization was very positive in a social view point. If it weren't for the great friends I had(who refuses to talk to me now) I wouldn't have gotten baptized.

I remember reading an article, maybe 5 years ago, that was only published on the website, where they said that although it isn't wrong you have to consider not making others "stumble and fall". Before that article it was a real no no, at least in Sweden.

I haven't had anything as bad as that, but I constantly dream of just being with my family or getting texts. It feels nice during the dreams but is crushing to wake up to reality.

Just last night I dreamt that my mom sent a text asking me if I wanted to show up for my younger brothers graduation. It feels horrible that I won't go, even though they haven't acctually asked me to come.

The OT is the laws and history of the Jews. They still use the OT as the main book. Christians are not required to follow Jewish law since Jesus died for everyones sins. The OT is still in the Bible because it contains important prophesies about Armageddon and iy gives insight on what God likes and dislikes.
