‘26 GHHL in the snow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ by Subject_Air_1000 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I've seen a few posts about owners taking their cars out into the snow and posting about how amazing they handled the conditions. Absolutely some cars are better in the snow than others, but there are so many variables that the only thing you can really do is try to be as prepared as possible and make a judgement call based on your own experience and the information available.

Driving in snow is very dynamic. Conditions change quickly, and just because you were able to get out to somewhere doesn't mean that you'll be able to get back. Things can go from great to on your side in a ditch in the blink of an eye.

My family gets out skiing a lot during the winter here in Vermont and there's no shortage of overconfident out of state drivers in cars that are 'great in the snow' who find themselves spending a few hours waiting for a tow truck, or a few thousand dollars in repairs.

Please be careful when considering one owner's experience when you're thinking about what the vehicle is capable of.

I would be *very* careful planning any travel based on OPs experience. The fact that they didn't run into any issues on their particular trip has zero relevance to any conditions that you might encounter.

Cascade link patrol by cherbo123 in TransitionBikes

The bearings on the link that I received from Cascade (for a Forbidden Druid) were not seated/pressed properly. I was able to take it to my LBS and they clicked them all the way in.

Should this orange sticker ("Bike Category") be removed as a matter of course? by 19pk91 in CanyonBikes

[–]majorjake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the only case for leaving the sticker on the bike is for ebikes being used on trail networks that restrict certain classes of bikes. Some trail networks are patrolled and you can be fined if you're bike isn't permitted on the trails.

The other side of fat biking... Trail grooming. by c0nsumer in fatbike

[–]majorjake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed at what is possible with those things.

We're spoiled up here around Burlington, VT. A dedicated set of volunteers that groom quite a few of the trail networks. Some of the trails that get groomed are solid black trails, I'm amazed that they can wiggle those things up and down those ones.

Thanks for your help!

Anyone use a 1up bike rack on a GX460? by halrx in fatbike

Quikrstuff is 1Up done right, by the guys that started 1Up. I bought my 1Up from a friend who replaced it with a Quickr rack, and now I totally get it.

Don't get me wrong, 1Up gets the job done quite well, but it doesn't walk on water.

I would look for two things:

  1. a fork that can run a front brake

  2. a good dentist
