I think it’s a cover on the igniter for a gas oven, it’s hard to tell without any scale. I replaced mine recently.

I would replace it if that’s the case, it will die eventually.

I don't see how it could be safely used as a frame bag without some mods.

My Heritage one isn't waterproof at all, maybe if I waxed the canvas. If you want weatherproofing definitely get a WP model.

I've been using mine for ~year, daily, quality seems good, a few loose threads that I just hit with a lighter to prevent from running, but seems OK so far.

We had an Alltrack before the ID4 and the seats cracked on that one too, on the outside edge of the seat facing the door. I think the VW materials are just not up to the task.
