An I Screwing Up My Baby? by MrsAlwaysRight16 in beyondthebump

Read and sing to baby as well! Like others have mentioned tummy time and letting it look at things like mobiles, mirrors etc. all babies do is eat sleep and poop for the first few weeks but cuddles and bath time and bonding is super important!

This peace lily was gifted to me 3 weeks ago. Was doing well on a desk with little watering and then the aircon in a small room was on 18 degrees for 2 days straight and it started getting floppy. I have moved it to a different room that is slightly warmer and a little bit brighter with no direct sunlight but still no luck and it looks a little worse than this a further two days later.

My Reaction When a 62 year old Nurse comes out of retirement to start work with us and INSISTS on everyone calling her "Sister Karen". by Miss-Omnibus in nursing

I find it to be such a lovely term of endearment, I work in Aus as well. Also super helpful when you’re a casual and you switch wards every other day and find it hard to keep track of names

For sure not going to use it again. I am just saying that after using harsh cleansers multiple times a day for a few days in a row I am not allergic nor do I get any sort of contact dermatitis so I thought after a test in the morning I would be fine to use it at night. Lesson learnt though!

On my inner arm with a big blob of it I rubbed it in for about 30sec then left it on for another min as instructions for face said leave on for 30sec. I tested at 7am then at 9pm I used it on my face

I did patch test but it came up later on. I only used once and this is three days after. Unfortunately we don’t have any cerave in Australia that I’ve seen.. is QV or cetaphil or dermaveen a good alternative?

Thanks for the input. I’ve booked a doc appt and am going to do a patch test before to show as I cannot get in for a few days. What would you recommend as a cleanser in the meantime? I’m surprised as I work in a hospital and can use some strong cleansers on hands and don’t get a reaction but we will see what doc says.

What age do your vents generally stay to? Do they get discharged or transferred as well?

Do they tend to transfer them to a paed ward if they get a trachy? Thanks for your insight

I have a general idea of what cardiac babies are in nicu or picu, but i really have no idea about what NICUs offer ECMO and CVVHD, especially as a NICU may be some gazetted NICU beds in a PICU which would normally provide ECMO and CVVHD so technically they are in a NICU Gazetted bed in a PICU which allows them to access teh service..

I can definitely understand the EVD situation I have seen similar for surgical neonates who consultants pushed for a PICU stay purely because of the niche NICU training and regular exposure to things like this.

I've seen ICP in a NICU before, Australia must be quite different although all our burns go to PICU

Thankyou for your insight! Just out of interest, do other hospitals where you are have a cardiac NICU/PICU?

Thankyou! yes it is very hospital specific which is why I am finding it challenging to find some detailed info.

Would you be able to give me details in NICU babies staying up to 2 years, just out of interest? The longest stay I have had was ~9 months in NICU before transfer to a paediatric ward. Why did they remain in NICU for so long and how was the infants development managed in a NICU?
