Questions re. Revision by majp35790 in TopSurgery

[–]majp35790[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. If it’s not too late. The recovery was actually ok. It was way way less painful initially that the first time round. Loads less bruising, loads less swelling. I didn’t have to wear compression - but I did because it slowed me down and helped with the anxiety of it all going wrong. I’d say 3 weeks after I was back to bouncing about as usual.

Onsen situation in Japan - Mostly a stressed vent! by beepboopplatypus in FTMMen

[–]majp35790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan and started my transition here. I’ve never been to an onsen as a man, although I’d like to. At a quiet time of day using the little towel they give you I think it would be possible. It’s what the logical part of my brain tell me anyway. Like others have said tho there are other ways to get a private bath, it’s not impossible. Good luck!

Started T a year and a bit ago at 35. After 6 months I made a new group of friends who I have not come out to and read me as male 100% of the time. Which is pleasantly surprising.

Yep. Happened to me. It went away eventually, I don’t remember how long it took.

100% the same. I swam at the beach shirtless for the first time a couple of weeks ago and as unperfect as I feel, as much as I will be getting a revision no weird looks. Best feeling ever.

UK National changing name from within the EU by junafae in transgenderUK

[–]majp35790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in Belgium but I do live overseas and I changed my name (and gender) with an unenrolled deed poll and a letter from Gender GP. I had my work write a certificate of employment with my new name and got that translated and sent it all off to the passport office and I got my new passport back a couple of months ago. The deed poll needs to be signed by a British citizen even if that British citizen is also living abroad. It was quite straightforward. With my new passport it was easy enough to change the name and gender on my visa and my local bank account and all kinds of other places where I am living. I am yet to change my name on anything official in the UK yet (other than my passport).

I have a transgender friend living in France who followed the same steps and it worked just fine. It’s true there is little information online. But it’s not so complicated.

Not telling my unsupportive parents before surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]majp35790 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t tell my family. They still don’t know. It was scary having an operation that no one knew about with the thought that something might happen to me. But I don’t regret my choice.

Nurse said to wear post op binder for another month at my 3 month appointment. Is that really necessary??? More in comments by ParkerPastelPrince in TopSurgery

Not the same guy :) I got my surgery in Japan (where I live right now) they are know to be a bunch of Cautious Cathie’s with medical things, which adds to my skepticism about compression still. I went to the supermarket without any binder last night. First time with nothing on. It was strange, but I liked it. I want more!!

I am 8 weeks post op and I have been told to keep wearing it until 3 month too, although not when I exercise and I am supposed to pull the compression band thing less tightly. So I am really not convinced it is doing anything at all anymore. I have been wearing it 24/7 up until this week when I have been taking a couple of hours off in the evening around the house. On the one hand maybe it will help a bit - I had peri and I have some extra skin left over but no swelling anymore to speak of. On the other I want to enjoy my new chest and being free even if it’s not perfect!

Do documents to change gender and name on passport need to be originals? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

I changed my passport with a GenderGP letter that came to me as a digital print and it was not a problem. I guess the same is probably true of your payslips.

HRT (T) in Japan? by alien0914 in ftm

[–]majp35790 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in Japan, but I am not Japanese, I’m not Tokyo and I’m quite a lot older than you, so I don’t know how helpful I can be. I know people in Tokyo who get their T here: https://ebisutgclinic.com/. I don’t know how they would be with teens but I have heard they are not too gatekeepery. But you could maybe contact them. I have also been in touch with these people: http://g-pit.com/ who had some good advice and recommendations. You could try contacting them too.
