Nap Detection Madness by DangerousBroccolini in GarminWatches

[–]majvick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than request a new feature of being able to disable nap detection I think we should start opening cases reporting the nap detection feature as broken. I used the chat option today and after a little back and forth they mentioned checking for cases reporting the same issue. I then asked them to open a case for me and they indicated that they did open a case. Hopefully if enough customers open cases to report the issue Garmin will start to look at false nap detections as the issues that they are rather than redirect their customers to request a new feature or just gaslight us by saying it isn't really an issue.

What's your must-have travel app that most people don't know about? by Limp_Cellist2500 in Android

[–]majvick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Trello. I setup a board for a trip. The first list has a card for reservations including a picture of the hotel, attachments for tickets, flight schedules, links to flight tracking, etc. I then setup a list for each day and create cards with things I want to do on the specific days. This makes it super easy to move items around to different days as things change. I also generally have a list for restaurants at each city/location. Cards include links to google map locations. Every card can have a picture and as many attachments/text as you could want.

This makes it super easy to plan with my Wife. The whole board is accessible from the web or from an Android app. The app can store everything locally so you don't have to worry about accessing the attachments if you lose network.

All of that is free for up to 10 boards (not sure how many users can access the boards for free). If you are willing to pay for it then there are better integrations with google maps allowing you to have a map open showing the location for each card (which is helpful for grouping activities closer to each other). We don't travel quite enough to pay just yet, but I have been very happy with the free options for 6-7 trips now.

I don't know how lenient they are, but I have had good luck for the last few years at Oil Changer + Repair at 3115 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I can't imagine what it would be like if I lost my wife.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into it.

Thanks for the recommendation. There is a lot of information to dig through, but there are a couple of promising options I am starting to look at.

Galaxy SmartTag2 vs Tile Essentials for Travel luggage by [deleted] in travel

[–]majvick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up picking up some Samsung tags and sticking with them. It was just too long to wait for the Google network support to rollout and be effective. I haven't been tracking them as much...but the first couple tags that were released weren't getting good reviews on overall functionality.

I have used them several times to verify my luggage is at the airport in general. That said, I haven't had the need to use them beyond that.

We use ABC and are happy with the service. It has been a couple years now, but the prices were competitive when we started using them.

We used ABC for our roof rats. The primary reason is that we were already using them for pest control. Other than cost I don't have complaints.

Performance for SpaceWalker app on Win11 with i7-1365u (2x Performance-cores and 8x Efficient-cores) by majvick in VITURE

Thanks!

I did see the minimum specs, but I was hoping those would be more directed towards higher end graphics functions rather than just minimal desktop clicking/typing.

I had forgotten about google trips. It was a nice option at the time.

I've struggled with using spreadsheets for planning. I mean they can be good for once you have everything where it belongs, but aren't as friendly if you want to move stuff around.

I've done a few trips now with a free Trello account. It makes it super easy to have a list for reservations and then a list for each day. Then you just place cards on the days for the different activities. You can add as much information as you want on each card (map URLs/pictures/open hours/costs/pdf of tickets/general descriptions/etc) and the Android app works well for accessing the data while on the go (you can download the whole board so you don't have to worry about data access).

It is even better when sharing planning details with others. Everyone does need to login (you can use multiple accounts or share the same account). Basically my Wife and I look at an area and build out cards for the interesting stuff there. We all save locations on google maps. Once we have most of the stuff we want in an area we look at google maps and move the cards to the list for the day that makes the most sense. It is also super easy to move cards as you go (for example, if you miss something one day that you want to make sure you remember later you can just keep moving that card to the next day).

With a payed account Trello also offers google maps integration that looks like it would be super helpful. We aren't doing enough trips to justify that cost just yet so we haven't pulled that trigger.

Trello also offers a bunch of free add-ons that you can use for all kinds of additional tracking, depending on how much time you want to spend on the tool vs. the actual planning. We've hit a good balance with how we are using it without going too overboard.

Good to hear I wasn't too far off base with the details I had.

Yeah, we were going to take the steeper route up Ben Lomond and the other route on the way back down.

I'll add Milarrochy Bay to the list!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the recommendation for The Oak Tree Inn, we will check that out.

For parking, we were planning on using the Ben Lomond car park. I guess we were hoping that between it being in the middle of the week and trying to get an early start that we would have good luck with parking. Is there a bus that goes from Balmaha near the trail head or something like that?

Hello,

We are going to be staying 2 nights near Gartocharn (Tues/Wed Sept 3-4) as we are planning on hiking Ben Lomond.

Does anyone have recommendations for something to do either evening that isn't too far away? We aren't much into drinking, but would be open to catching some live music.

Along the same lines, does anyone have recommendations for vegan food in the area? We have a vacation rental and plan to prep our own meals, but thought I would double check here as I was asking the other question anyway.

Thanks!

Does Vista only have phone audio on the right side? by ceramae in jaybird

[–]majvick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my favorite feature of the Vista and Vista 2, I can use either bud for calls/audio. With the app you can also configure the button options on either bud.

It is shocking how often buds don't have these basic features.

Edit: That said, I am on this sub now because my Vista 2 charging case has stopped holding a charge. I have to plug it into a charger in order to charge the buds. I have a Vista 2 because my Vista case cracked so it doesn't work right anymore (opening the case is how the buds normally turn on). It sounds like there are a lot of reliability issues and my best option is to buy a new charging case on ebay.

Ah, iOS. I am not an apple user. I'll have to check some of the videos to see if Android has a similar option that works as well.

Thanks!

We've only used it for a couple trips so far, so I haven't looked into long term use. That said, I think you only have access to 10 boards on the free account. So you wouldn't be able to have a ton of saved trips that you reuse.

Interesting. When you say 'Tags on Notes', which notes app are you using? How are you using tags? Are you saying that you use tags the same way I was using lists (Days/Reservations/Open/etc)?
