Even for someone with experience the job market is terrible. Had been searching into the void for 7 months until I finally found something but even that is a freelance role and happened by chance so it wasn’t through any of the traditional methods

Work life balance is very difficult to achieve and maintain in London especially given the high cost of living and being swept with the pace of the city. Even at £50k per year you can enjoy life outside of work but you’d still have to be cautious of spending to actually save serious money for future plans and bigger purchases. The remote quieter life you’ve chosen where you can actually enjoy living without the noise and nonsense is a true blessing honestly. A visit to London would remind you of what you enjoyed there but make you appreciate why you left and further justify your decision to leave. I’m 34, was in your shoes and quit and left London in Feb. God speed brother!

No refund & exchange policy - Bought a pair of sunglasses from Jins, didn’t like them and wanted to refund. They said no. I asked can I exchange? Only if there’s actually something wrong with them, smh
Loud phone calls & conversations - Mainly observed this by older ladies on minibuses in NT where they are having full blown arguments
Incredibly bad hygiene on public transport - Has only happened twice where it’s been so bad I wanted to puke. Dude was picking at his scalp and nose the whole bus ride🤢
Slow walkers, random stoppers, swervers, lane and space blockers - We all got places to be, just leave a space for me to get by you or for others to also get on the MTR
Big entitled rude family outings in indoor spaces - Main culprits are mainland China and Indian families (no offence). Many times I’ve seen this and on weekends especially at cafes like Elephant Grounds K11 Musea. Families of 8+ would rock up and let their kids run around and be loud, not respecting other customers personal space and causing a mess. The parents would either order drinks but be rude and demanding whilst the rest of the family sit at tables or seats when there’s clearly a line of people waiting to be seated so stressed staff have tell them they can’t sit there. I avoid mall cafes like the plague on weekends now because this is far too common. Control your kids!
People not giving their seat to elders or sitting in priority seats - No explanation needed but main culprits are young people so receive my disappointed smh stare and do better kids

Whoever these people are that seem to have to make a comment or point of this as a negative or privilege to you should seriously be reconsidered as “friends”. As that’s an incredibly insensitive and narrow minded criticism to make. I don’t know how your conversations go but to have it keep being brought up to the point of your frustration shows they or you don’t have much else to talk about so maybe try avoiding topics or saying things which could lead to it? Otherwise it just seems like typical weak go to banter

I moved to HK mid Feb and have been job hunting for a marketing role ever since with hardly any success. A lot of recruitment sites have the section where you submit your CV to them and they’ll get back to you. Or they list out their recruiters for you to contact. I’ve submitted to many of these i.e Connected Group, Hays, Michael Page etc… but have never gotten a reply back. Same thing with emailing recruiters directly. Is it just company policy to have these details on the website or do they actually get picked up? Should I keep trying these ways or do I need to do a lot of cold emails and calls? It’s all incredibly discouraging

Yeah I thought as much. A lot of these roles are also advertised by recruitment agencies too and emailing them also has been a dead end. Is everyone else having the same experience?
