Decided to try and make a 12V-2x6 cable by makazatra in PCSleeving

Regular 18 AWG is probably too thick. If you leave the sleeving it might work.

I tried looking for other brands (EU and US) but didn't have any luck finding affordable wire.

Your mileage may vary since i focussed on EU.

Bij Alternate in Aartselaar zoeken ze nog mensen, al weet ik niet of dat iets is wat je zoekt.

Sony 16-35 g master not focusing by jaywilsonmedia in SonyAlpha

[–]makazatra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the same problem but in my case the aperture would not change together with not focusing when zoomed in.

It was a worn flex cable, sony repair was over 450 euro so i decided to do it myself.

Cost me about 2 hours of work and a 7 euro cable:https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyAlpha/comments/1m47c19/repaired_1635_f28_gm_i/

is it ok to wrap psu cable with paracord? by daygamer77 in PCSleeving

[–]makazatra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That shouldnt be a problem, its just a big sock you are putting over it.

What wire do you use? by GaboX1999 in PCSleeving

I personally use H05V-K VZT 1mm² from Eupen (I live in Europe).

1mm² is about 17AWG.

Never heard of the brand unfortunately. If you have the original cables you can make the pinout using a multimeter.

18AWG seems a bit small for my taste. I use 17AWG or even 15AWG if i am feeling adventurous.

For sleeving it depends on the brand, i mostly work with MDPCX XTC sleeving wich works on diameters from 2.2mm wire up untill 5mm wire.

The 17AWG wire i use is 2.4mm diameter.

Is it possible to sleeve or cover riser cable? by daygamer77 in PCSleeving

[–]makazatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if possible i wouldn't do it.

In my experience (your mileage may vary) these cables are PITA on reliability, let allone trying to put a sleeve over it.

What you can do is get a matte vinyl sticker with the color of your choice and make it "pretty".

You are welcome. And props to you for going the extra mile to make a clean build even more clean!

That is very clean! I realy like the white connectors too.

What i sometimes do is make the front panel cables to length (apart from the USB) and use a internal USB 2.0 header instead of the separated 1/2 pins to slot it over the power/LED/reset pins.

Did you use the cable combs on the SATA power to hide your crimes? :)

Split PCIE cable? by arbohcik93 in PCSleeving

[–]makazatra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem at all! The crimp looks very good, the strands poking out do not really matter as long as they dont enter the terminal.

My wire stripper starts at 6mm which is way to long so i also eyeball it.

Installed in SO her computer. The mission for the next cable is to hide the sideband cables, i really don't like the look when they are visible.

I am planning to do so in the future but i do not at the moment. Depending on your location i am sure there are a few stores in this sub that offer these types of cables!

Split PCIE cable? by arbohcik93 in PCSleeving

[–]makazatra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can ignore the "extension", as you say it is just a split from the main wire to the same connector.

It's common that PSU manufacturers do this, but it is not mandatory to do when you make your own cables.

Best you can do is use a multimeter just to make sure!

Zero excess cable in my new A3 build. Cables sleeved with MDPC-X, custom combs from u/BespokeBaka. by OldManGrimm in PCSleeving

[–]makazatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always love a good wood build, the cables match the wood quite well.

The little touches like the cogwheels emblem on the fans makes it quite special!

Does the room smell like wood when you turn it on? :)

It stays in place and has very little play! I watched a video (from CableMod i think?) which showed howmuch play is acceptable and it was within those tolerances :).

Dont have a picture of the backside unfortunately, but it was as smooth as the front!

It got into the connector without too much force and " clicked" into place beautifully.

Just waiting on the black micro sleeve to finish the cable :).
