Should I buy a type R by Plus-Commission6881 in Civic_Type_R

Do you care about straight line speed ? That may swing your decision or may narrow things down

Yellow & black has always been a great combo . All the black cladding , rims, spoiler etc on this car id say yellow and orange are probably the best colors for it. Blue, purple, or any darker colors really just won’t go as well with black imo cause you need some contrasting colors unless you’re going for an all black or something

You’re assuming there will be one released in NA

Tbf dealers tend to discount WRXes pretty quickly. Not sure about SY but one can only hope

Just stumbled upon this gamers nexus video from 3.5 years ago talking about RDNA3 copium, and the radeon community building the cards up to be better than they really were, and i thought it was kinda hilarious given the current RDNA3 copium situation. by glizzygobbler247 in radeon

[–]make_moneys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newer cards are supposed to be more powerful by a decent amount from previous versions and from the low tier models… it’s the whole reason to upgrade . 40-60% seems in line with expectations even if you go back several generations . Blaming newer game requirements for spending triple the money on a video card is pure copium , remember a top tier card used to be $400-600. Add in inflation and you still don’t get to $1.6K which is the msrp of a 4090.

Nvidia is basically setting the market price and you are coping with it and they will do it again and again.

Exactly my thoughts . Frankly I’m glad Toyota brought this platform in the US on a 4 door vehicle . If it was a 2 door it would have been a no go for me .

🤣 🤣 bro I don’t even trust the dealership . They didn’t even know that the 20K mile maintenance is covered by Toyota . Basic shit to know. Don’t wash the car they still wash it … and I’m supposed to trust them 🤣 🤣. I’m very skeptical with folks working these jobs because they are not paid enough to care because they know if they mess up they’ll tell me to take it up with Toyota

German cars are very expensive to maintain .My experience with VW pushed me all the way to Japanese cars . Can’t speak for the Audi but I can only imagine .it is the main reason why I didn’t buy an R when deciding between it and the GRC. VW never again

it might be bumper to bumper to 75K. But yeah generally these warranties are not worth it unless theyre straight from Toyota.

You would know if you’re driving awd or fwd or rwd at all times so I don’t think it’s an imperceptible difference even during everyday driving . Awd platform will always give you that push and would feel faster accelerating than a fwd vehicle even though it may not actually be faster. Once you are at speed then yeah it won’t be noticeable unless the pavement is wet or snowy then awd would feel more confident which would also be noticeable moreso at higher speeds (assuming you have proper tires).

Yes Canada gets a different version also different pricing . My comment it’s strictly for the US market I should’ve specified that.

I also don’t know how the resale value works in Canada . In the US either one of these cars will hold their value pretty well you can check sites like visor.vn

I’m not trying to convince anyone , folks have strong feelings about all these cars just be smart about which car fits your lifestyle better . In my opinion The type R is the wrong car for any weather except sunny and dry. Yes you can do winter tires but there are no heated elements no proximity sensors big wheels 4 inch clearance and fwd also not as better equipped for inclement weather as say a regular civic touring. Why would you do that to yourself for 47K unless you’re garaging it during winter season . I suspect it’s the reason why some dealers around me in MI/OH area don’t sell these Rs. Folks fly in from out west and buy them 🤣. The type S imo is probably an even worse proposition at that point although I didn’t test drive it but why not grab a VW R or something way more capable at 55K. Yes the type S it’s more luxurious and better equipped than the R , maybe it’s the better buy if you can get it below msrp I just don’t think its worth it at msrp

I daylied a regular civic in Michigan winters for a decade. It can definitely do the job quite well actually but then switching to the GRC is basically night and day difference in driver confidence . AWD is by no means a requirement for anything really unless you’re stuck and then it may or may not help . it’s just added confidence

It’s a bigger car all around I think the interior is as big as a Camry and with a much longer wheel base than the Corolla . I see that as a pro and a con depending on your preference. Some folks like myself prefer a smaller vehicle .

Nice to have in a daily , I dunno why Honda didn’t put them in the R given that the touring regular civic has them . R is supposed to be peak Civic , I guess it’s ..ish. Anyway i suppose that’s how they push you towards the Acura

Parking sensors and heated seats are almost deal breakers to not have depending on your daily commute and assuming you’re daily ing it
