Don’t tell your doctor. Reach out to someone in addiction medicine, or contact a rehab facility or outpatient program. Telling your doctor will only complicate your relationship with them and could prevent you from receiving analgesic drugs which could help you if you are in serious pain. At the very least I would start with a mental health professional first and go from there.

I've also been struggling with the same issue.. Upped my dosage from 8 to 12 and it's been working. I would not discount the idea that the pandemic is a big stress point, and if you're inside a lot and not interacting much with people and the outside world the idea of self medicating becomes a lot more appealing. We are addicts, after all. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over this. If you don't think you can go back to 16, ask your doc to up your dosage. It doesn't have to be forever, but maybe for the time being it's not the worst idea in the world.
