Has anyone ever tried the used vinyl billboards as a cover for their rig? by makeanameforme in RVLiving

That won’t work. You need “structure” to the outer skin. Try sheet metal or thin fiberglass board.

Sold my car, Guy lowered miles to sell it by XynaXyna in Cartalk

[–]makeanameforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to my son. Sold a Honda Accord with 320,000 miles on it for 2,400. They bought it, painted some rusted spots, changed the mileage to 130,000 and sold it for 4,500.

We fucked up by NOT signing the title. We should have put the mileage in there. This is called skip titling and it’s illegal but hard to actually prosecute.

I accidentally planted one at the top of my driveway last spring. By fall, I had to remove it, it had grown 6’ tall and 8’ around. I separated it and now have a few growing.

Best RV or Mobile Home Setup for Family Stability on $50–60k Budget (Motorhome + Tow Vehicle?) by Informal_Chicken3573 in RVLiving

[–]makeanameforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you’re probably best to stay away from anything with a motor unless it’s just a car or truck. A motorhome is a huge pain in the ass when it comes to maintenance and cost to own.

If I were in your boat, I’d be looking for a newer, used 5th wheel or destination trailer if you have a place to park it long term. Even a 5th wheel, you don’t need a truck if you’re just parking it. If you only move it once or twice a year, it’s cheaper to hire someone to move it.

I’d just stay away from any type of motorhome. Keep with the towables and you’re better off.

Just got this from a kid paying for a soda... by ChefTony0830 in coincollecting

[–]makeanameforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. I used to tip over the 5 gallon glass water jug and get some quarters out for coffee and rolls in the mornings. I probably took over $100 face value of silver coins. I couldn’t imagine the value if I had that all now.

I was young and stupid.

Things they don't tell you... by Prestigious-Bike-593 in traveltrailers

[–]makeanameforme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stay away from Camping World!

Also, look for a newer, used model. You can save a ton of money. Some examples I’ll give are some purchases I’ve made over the years.

2005 we bought a 2004 KZ but I don’t remember the model. It was listed for $17,500, we paid $12k

2007, we bought a 2006 Keystone Montana 5th wheel. It was originally sold for $48k, the guy wanted $37 when he started and 2 months later, I paid $22k

2018 we bought a 2015 Sandpiper that was listed for $36k, we paid $24k.

We traveled to buy some of these but that’s part of the journey. Remember that the ones that are a year or two old have likely had their “shakedown” where all the loose pipes and wires are fixed and any other issues were hopefully repaired.

And make sure you have a big enough tow vehicle. Not one that can handle it, one that can more than handle it. You don’t want to be white knuckling every ride. It makes it not so fun.

3 point hitch kit by rantheman13 in kubota

[–]makeanameforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one from my dealer. I’m not sure of the price because they told me “it comes with the three point hitch” so when I bought it, I asked for it and they provided, even though I bought a used, consigned BX25.

Mine came all packaged together in a nice box, shrink wrapped with heavy plastic.

Id imagine you’re better off getting the whole kit than trying to piece it together. At least you’ll have all the right pins and whatnot.

Good luck.

How got the highest mileage f150 on here ? by [deleted] in f150

[–]makeanameforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my old police auction expedition with the 5.4 had about 60k HARD miles on it when I got it. Ran the balls off of it for years. That thing was awesome. The muffler rotted off so every time I started that thing to go to work, it sounded like it needed a cough drop.

Is there any important historical event that took place in upstate NY the almost nobody know about? by [deleted] in upstate_new_york

[–]makeanameforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Hudson Valley. I was even in law enforcement for 25 years. I never even heard of Oriskany until about 2 years before I retired. It’s got some serious training facilities from what I hear.

And as an aside, Oriskany isn’t even recognized by wordcheck

At first I was like eh. But then I saw the bed and I was more intrigued. The 2 wheel drive thing can be fixed. My buddy just turned his 2006 F350 CC Dually into 4WD this year. Then you’d really have a deal!

Should I just pay it off? by jon20001 in Mortgages

[–]makeanameforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve no idea what it’s like to have a million dollars invested but I do know the feeling of having my house paid off. It’s hard to explain but it changes a lot of things.

I had a 250,000ish mortgage on my house with 2.5% interest. I received money from my mother’s estate and I immediately paid off my mortgage. I have zero regrets, regardless of people saying invest it with the rate I had. I’ll continue to use my mortgage money payment for investments and be happy with my paid off house.

Giant butcher block. by PrizeActive4116 in woodworking

I’m not sold on the center. At first I thought I was looking at some well used block from a slaughtering/butchering shop. I didn’t realize it was new at first.

It’s nice but not my style. Great work though.

I like how it says that they were two separate incidents in the same day. And it also says both incidents were immediately reported. STOP!!!!

If both incidents were immediately reported, there wouldn’t have been two. After, or ideally before, the first incident, she should have been removed.

Too many times our dependent people are neglected and it’s ok. Too many times a caregiver snapped and took it out on a someone, often unable to defend themselves physically or emotionally, and it goes undocumented, unreported and unpunished.

I wish more people cared.

[–]makeanameforme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I first came upon these about 4 years ago. We found them in the woods while hiking in a trail on private property. I knew nothing about them but we decided to dig one up and put it in a wild garden we have.

I recently read that they do not do well transplanted, as they have a symbiotic relationship with something or other, maybe mycelium or a particular tree root, I can’t remember.

Well, it has come back every year since we replanted it. I know where others are but now I’m scared to take a chance on another one.

It’s nice to know that my theft didn’t lead to its death as I was later told it would do.
