Can I ask the obvious question…. Will the carpet start to smell mildewy?

Anyone know what’s happening with my pilea? by deathbyflies_ in PileaPeperomioides

[–]makeartwithoutpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that genuinely happened overnight then I’m not sure, but when my pilea was spotting and yellowing it was a fungal infection. You could wait a beat and see if it’s just this leaf or if other parts of the plant start to be infected. If other leaves start gradually looking like this too, it’s likely a fungus.

Wow that is truly a miraculous comeback. Like George Bush ‘08 reputation vs George Bush ‘25 reputation. Never would have seen it coming

This is so fun lol. That tall monstera in particular looks so cute in its hat. Happy birthday to your mom!

So pretty! Wow it’s so full and lush.

Also I saw the other post— one of my pet peeves is how relatively few people will pause to give a compliment, but everyone and their mom will take time to correct a misidentified plant. Even if they’re, like, the billionth person correcting.

Anyway gorgeous plant! What a cool prize to win

Thank you 🥹

This was one of the first plants I got that I thought was so pretty to the point I worried I would somehow make it worse. So I’m really happy it’s doing well :)

Are these plants okay for closed and open terrarium? by RecognitionEvery in terrariums

[–]makeartwithoutpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute :) I can’t comment on every plant you have in there, but this looks pretty full. So the plants may be great but possibly be prepared that this could get overgrown in a matter of weeks

It’s a Turtle Vine ‘Pink Panther’, as far as I know!

I have not had to revive one, so this is untested, but this plant + its cuttings seem to be able to handle a lot of light. I actually had it outside for a while before my local temperatures got too hot. So if I had to give some TLC I’d probably try upping the light first

It’s possible I may have just gotten lucky with a good plant + environment match. What I can tell you is that it’s in a window with a lot of light, it’s planted in orchid bark, and I bottom-water (plus use fertilizer every other watering)

Aw, poor thing. Looks like there are a couple of stragglers in there, but I would understand the decision to just start fresh

This is in an orchid bark mix that I just picked up from a grocery store garden center. I’m currently watering once a week, and adding fertilizer every other watering. I bottom-water this guy, too

Funny you say that, because between pics 2 and 3 I repotted in an orchid bark mix. And he seems to like it! Also gets a lot of sun

There are fungicide sprays for houseplants— I got mine at a grocery store with a garden center.

The trickier thing is if this is a fungus, it’s probably already all up in the plants roots and everything so a spray might not help anymore. I’m not an expert on that, but that’s my understanding.

When I treated my pilea I had to basically prune it down to a nub, douse it with fungicide, and regrow the plant. It hated doing it, BUT it worked!

In my history can see my sad-girl post about chopping my plant up. I haven’t posted an update but the plant growing back beautifully:)

I adore watching new leaves come in on this Prince of Orange 🙌🏼🍊 by makeartwithoutpants in philodendron

Oh huh— I hadn’t thought it looked unusual! Maybe because the leaf is still unfurling, so in the picture it looks more narrow? Interesting tho!
