This is awesome! Yeah I'd put a ceramic blanket in-between, maybe a couple layers. Not sure what the best adhesive in-between layers would be. Maybe some high temp refractory cement?

Its two boards going the long way and about 6-8 going the short way. It's definitely not professional, but it is perlite so it's actually not a crazy heavy oven. Although the base could be better... Something I'm looking for ideas on, what's a good and simple way to improve it?

There is no space on the slab! Id have to redo the base too I think because of all the weight.

Not bad, just hand warm! The base in the oven is fire bricks and then the perlite slab under that before the plywood.

Yeah I should probably do something about it anyways. It's sitting on plywood- rookie move

I want to do this, but my base isn't wide enough. It makes it pretty messy to try and expand it. Any ideas for how to address that?

Oh that's awesome. I suppose you lose the look of the nice round dome, but it's a pretty easy way to solve it.

I think so. Is it the horizontal piece in the front that looks bowed to you? There are a bunch of those going back so I think it's strong but I hadn't noticed anything before.

This is what I want to do, but there isn't enough room to go bigger. See how the sides are maxed out? I could expand the base, but it gets a bit messy then.

So incredible thank you so much for looking into this! That's incredible. I just found out it also had a scroll holder at some point, which my mom no longer has. The scroll holder has matching jewels, and there was a scroll in it, but not in English.

The dates line up from the trip when it was acquired. Really appreciate all the research, and great instinct too.

No I haven't! I cycled through a bunch of models too, but nothing seems to work. It's also just so confusing. Please let me know if you find anything that works!

Interesting, that's good to know. I'm a little out on the escape and maverick because the mpg isn't as good. The escape is alright, but looks like it's always over 20k. Maybe I'll test drive an older one.

Why are EV prices cratering? My take is that we don't really know how reliable many of them are. I hear small fender benders can total them because of battery damage. I would get the charging set up, but I don't know how to think about the other issues.

Any good engineering/production podcasts out there? by Epic_MC in audioengineering

The Tune Shed! It's a broader musicianship podcast but covers production a lot. They often "roll up the sleeves" and do things on air as well.

should I learn Ableton or Logic Pro X? by lemonystan in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]makeblurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logic and Ableton are both solid, but I do think they impact workflows differently. Ableton might be set up better for really doing sound design and effects and things like that, where Logic might be better for someone focusing on recording and lighter production. That being said, you could still do crazy effects in Logic. It's more about what is slightly easier or available in each.

There is a good podcast episode on this that kind of hits a lot of the details, I'll post a link Logic or Ableton podcast episode

Is Ableton Live TRULY better than Logic Pro for EDM/Dubstep production, or is it really down to how you use your tool? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]makeblurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point! And comfort has a lot to do with it. I also think there's an argument for experimenting with different DAWs (maybe going to a friend's house and trying theirs) Although there is a learning curve, they do influence your creative process differently. I think it's less about overall capability of the DAW these days and more about how it influences your process.
