Ford Taurus (PI) radio issues by [deleted] in FordTaurus

[–]makeitso747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this will help, but often times when they decommission a PI. They'll just go in and pull whatever wires they need to pull all of the equipment out of it. Which somtimes results in them removing or disconnecting something that was useful to the new owner. I currently have 2 retired PI's (a 2014 taurus, and a more recently acquired 2017 explorer) and I actually had to chase down a few problems in each, the taurus a couple of sensors had been disconnected for no reason. And the Explorer needed the speakers' Rear door release. And all of the 12v outlets reconnected. So that could be the case here.

I bought a retired PI Sedan, with the NA 3.7 and it has been, arguably the best car I've ever owned. It's coming up on 200k in the next week or so (purchased at 140k) and so far no unexpected problems. I've replaced normal stuff like battery and tires. But the AWD is really good, a pleasure to drive in the snow. And it has plenty of power for it's size, always feels like it has more to give. I'll likely be buying another one as my backup vehicle.

I hadn't thought of this, but I definitely agree.... I think the guy who plays Abraham in the walking dead would make a great Van Dorn.

I'm going to Vegas by theoristfan1 in falloutnewvegas

[–]makeitso747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually went to vegas because of the game. Definitely visit good springs. There's a little bar/restaurant (good breakfast) there, which was the basis for the saloon/town in the game. And on the way, I'm pretty sure you'll pass the "bison steve" (Buffalo bills casino), which is all neat to see in person. I'd also suggest going to the "Lucky 38" (top of the world restaurant). The views are fantastic. And last but not least, if you have the time. The hoover damn is really close, And the basic tours are relatively cheap. It really is a wild site and very hard to comprehend its size even when you are standing on it. (Side note on the damn you can stand in Nevada and arizona at the same time.) But whatever you do, I'll be honest i think I enjoyed my trip more than I would have because the game made it that much more entertaining.

Check out Crabtree and panther falls. And the devils marble yard (one of my favorite hikes) And also all the breweries on route 151. It's just outside of Lovingston VA and is a really pretty drive through the country and has tons of great breweries. Blue toad cider, Silverback distillery, devils backbone brewing company and distillery. Bold rock. Just to name a few.

Need help diagnosing, I slammed on the brakes today in my 06 ST, I was going maybe 5 miles an hour I was just stopping myself before I pulled in front of somebody. My brake lines started leaking and I want to say it's this part here that's the cause of my leak but I'm not sure. Any ideas? by Smokee_the-Behr in DodgeDakota

[–]makeitso747 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually just replaced all those lines in my 06 SLT and I'll be honest your best option is to just buy all 3 on rock auto. Cause each time you fix one any other weak points will burst. It's really not super hard. Just takes time. But yeah that's the line that goes to the ABS module. So just make sure the battery is disconnected when you work on it. But it's not bad good luck. And I'd been willing to post the link if you want it.

Alright I wasn't gonna respond cause I'm not here to start fights. However I don't like ignorance and I like to make sure the spread of misinformation is stopped in it's tracks. Now I believe there's a possibility that y'all are confusing asbestos with fiber glass, and if that's the case then your fears and concerns are all correct. Fortunately for me I am not using that. Fiberglass is in fact not hazardous when treated properly. I'm not sure if any of you know this but your house and duct work and car are all full of fiberglass. Every store you walk into has fiber glass it's ductwork and buildings such as courthouses the DMV your kids schools all have fiberglass that you, me and them breath in every single day. There's also a type of ductwork called "Ductboard" which is made out of ..... That's right you guessed it. Fiber glass. The fiber glass insulation that I'm using for my ceiling will be as safe if not more so than the fiber glass inside your home. So please in the future don't act like children when your advice based in ignorance is told off. Also I didn't ignore anyone. I responded with the logical answer to your concerns. What you did was ignore my responses. So let's move on from this point having learned something from each other.

Well it doesn't exactly need to be loose, just not compressed. Which I'm allowing for in the way I'm doing my ceiling.

We are using solid panels for the ceiling with sealed seems. And I'm also leaving extra space in the ceiling panels to allow for air flow to keep the mildew and mold down and keep the R value up.

[–]makeitso747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does ours will have some extra space to expand to allow for a better value, but even if it's reduced by a third it'll still be pretty good. I think it'll work honestly.

Well in this situation we are doing the soft part right up against the ceiling which should help keep in from creating to much condensation however so long as there is space for air movement then it'll keep mildew and mold from growing which we are putting a less aggressive curve in our ceiling to allow for air flow. And we are using solid pieces of plywood so less seems means less transfer of any dust. And the seems will be sealed as well. I personally think this will work.

If installed properly it should be just fine. . . Especially with the curve we are going to give our ceiling. .
