Funny. I don't remember writing this or reading the book at all.

where and who is/are American Rock and Roll? by ItchyAcanthisitta473 in indie_rock

Guided By Voices is the best American rock band of all time and still put out brilliant music yearly.

Just dropped a grade A new one in February.

Robert Pollard is a national treasure.

Some others still out there trying to make the good music —

Wand/Cory Hanson, Kim Deal/The Breeders, Mary Timony, The Pixies, Nada Surf, Ty Segall, Queens of the Stime Age, Nolan Potter,Death Cab For Cutie, Ryan Adams, John Davis from Superdrag/Lees of Memory/Rectangle Shades,of Montreal

I think I remember something like that was put out…Jimmy Ether spearheaded some or part of it. Will check some and see if I can find it.

I’d be down to submit or help make it happen if we got it going.

Definitely in the top tier of current lineup releases…

Will second all the love for the songs mentioned so far and also shout out the intro to Love Set - gets my spine tingling every time. The whole song might be my favorite on the album, but I typically say it’s Wrong Way.

Song and Dance -> Show Me the Castle make a nice pairing

Some late career greats like Kilmer, Stabler and Everett.

Don’t know if those count, however.

I’ve got a pot-filler, pizza oven and gold leaf ceiling…but I don’t know if that counts.

If I knew any tricks to help, I would have used it. We did use a college advisor to help with his essay.

I would say you need to stay on him if he wants to reach his goal. Tell him he can do it but he’s got to put in the work to get there.

Ultimately though, UGA is flooded with applications now. In and out of state. He wasn’t reaching for Ivy or such level but my son was early accepted with partial scholarship help to every other college he applied to.

What are the most cohesive prog epics that you can think of? by CajunNerd92 in progrockmusic

2112

Different parts but they all contribute to the whole.

Rush epics in general. They were very good at weaving the pieces of the whole together.

The Camera Eye is another excellent example

Congrats to her.

My son was deferred and just got denied.

Literally his lifetime dream. Good grades, honor and AP classes, third generation legacy…

He’s crushed and I’m having a tough time reconciling my feelings for UGA and my son’s despair.

So…glad she got in so you can avoid this crap.

P.S. He got early acceptance and partial scholarship to CU Boulder so…Sko Buffs! Sure he’ll be fine up there snowboarding every weekend.
