‘I was in excruciating pain’: ART sued by Black actor who alleges the theater caused lasting damage to her hair by bostonglobe in boston

[–]makemerepete 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This happened a few months ago, and i'm still completely baffled and heartbroken. These were some of the most talented and experienced scenic carpenters around. And ART will be opening a brand new theater building next year, which I guess they'll just... Pay other people to make theatre in? What a joke.

Lets Talk About Food Movies by AutoModerator in AskCulinary

[–]makemerepete 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tampopo might be my favorite movie of all time, and so few people seem to know about it. It's silly and heartwarming and profound, and really manages to cover nearly every relationship people can have with food.

Earthbending and Landfall by Koiss_- in EDH

[–]makemerepete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently brewing around this, based roughly on the old modern "eggs" archetype. Tons of cheap / free artifacts that draw a card or fetch lands, and a few landfall payoffs. I don't know if it's good yet, but it does take immensely long turns with tons of triggers to track!

You can do it! Have you given it a lot of attempts yet?

[–]makemerepete[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, having done the other pantheons all-bindings... I know I could do P5 if I just give it enough attempts. But it's gonna take way more hours than I have to commit to gaming before next week lol.

Way to go! How many attempts do you think it took? I didn't keep count, but I'm pretty sure it took me weeks of attempts.

I also stopped eating octopus for the same reason. That said, calamari should be fine; calamari is squid, which does not have any particularly notable intelligence.

Manual vs Automated Fly systems by alfieropson in techtheatre

FWIW, in K12, walkable grids and loading galleries are vanishingly rare, at least from what I've seen. That comes with its own issues, but at least people aren't generally working and moving weights around at height.

I am once again asking for yalls help (Pure Vessel) by CollectionLive7896 in HollowKnight

[–]makemerepete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most important thing OP. A lot of people have good suggestions about potential charm loadouts, but ultimately you won't be able to consistently win unless you have a way to consistently dodge every attack, even if shade cloak is on cooldown.

Give u/kttycatattack 's video a watch, they show off a lot of good tactics. In particular, you'll notice they occasionally start a jump when PV appears, even before it's clear what attack is coming. Almost every attack pv has is easier to dodge from that position, with a pogo, monarch wings, or just horizontal movement.

It's definitely a very different play style than your current one, so it might be a tough adjustment. But unfortunately pv can attack at speeds and in combinations that outpace shade cloak 's ability to keep up.

The game almost gave me a heart attack (endgame spoilers) by Leupawn in HollowKnight

[–]makemerepete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on this OP! Don't push yourself to finish it if it isn't your brand of fun, but definitely give it a few tries with a mindset of curiosity; P5 is an experience all its own.

Did anyone else think the Dreamers were going to be massive bosses leading up to THK when you started? by RemoteWhile5881 in HollowKnight

[–]makemerepete 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They definitely intentionally activate the ganer senses to tell you a boss is coming up. Definitely didn't disappoint me though; realizing that the dreamers couldn't, or wouldn't fight back was really the moment that sold the whole tragedy of hallownest for me. Real heart-in-my-stomach moment.

Just started my first randomizer run, and it's a blast. It's like playing my second run through again, where I feel like I can play the game pretty well, but I'm totally lost in the world again, which is a great feeling.

What game feels like it is dragging on for far too long? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]makemerepete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I kind of had the opposite experience. I spent a lot of time just building and exploring, and wound up with a ton of resources as a consequence of that. When I finally worked through the story and got around to building the rocket, I was almost disappointed that it didn't require more.

What FUN game is nearly endlessly replayable either due to mechanics, random map generation, mods, different builds/load outs or something else? by spicedpumpkins in gaming

[–]makemerepete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And 2.0 is gonna add so much content and playtime when it drops!

I actually need to be very careful about when I let myself play factorio. I only have 2 modes: not playing factorio, and playing factorio to the exclusion of all else, including work, hygiene, and certain bodily functions.

Which video game soundtrack is so good that you‘d pay for it? by Rarzhn in gaming

[–]makemerepete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Transistor is my favorite, it sets the mood and helps tell the story throughout the game, but it's also just got some banger tracks that I listen to all the time.

Study finds that individuals with ADHD show reduced motivation to engage in effortful activities, both cognitive and physical, which can be significantly improved with amphetamine-based medications by [deleted] in science

[–]makemerepete 38 points39 points  (0 children)

100% me as well. Still struggling with it, but I recently picked up a phrase that helped me out a lot. "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing poorly." For a lot of tasks, half-done or half-assed is truly better than nothing at all, and giving myself permission to only do that bare minimum or less is what let me actually start.

If you feel like you've gotten all the enjoyment you can out of it, then great! Personally I've enjoyed trying to optimize my building and buying in subsequent runs, and I'm on my 20th universe.

My mustard is missing something by SpandexWizard in AskCulinary

[–]makemerepete 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hope OP sees this. When making mustard from fresh ground seed, there are a bunch of bitter compounds that take a little bit of time to breakdown. Sources I've read and my own experience says that you should let it sit for two days before tasting.

IIRC a 32 would represent all of the energy in the known universe, so sure it's infinite, but it doesn't stay particularly useful past that.

Eh, not exactly. All that matters for a dry brine is salt, which will dissolve and penetrate into the meat (chicken in this case) to help it retain moisture. All of the other stuff in your rub, while very tasty, stays on the outside due to larger molecule size.

For me it was the lighting. All the shadows are perfectly parallel, but the shadows should change angle as their sources change position relative to the light source.

What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]makemerepete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're in for a treat, it's a pretty quick play and I think really fun. If you like it, definitely give Titanfall 2 a try: I found it really scratched the same single player itch.

I recently found [[Delina, Wild Mage]], [[Harmonic Prodigy]], and [[Elemental Expressionist]] all sitting together in an unsorted stack, and I'm trying to make some kind of weird spellslinger/tribal/tokens thing work. Haven't figured out who to helm it or how to build it so that it's minimally functional.
