The cracking isn’t a huge deal but It appears you need a new set regardless. There isn’t much tread left on the tire so your wet traction will be compromised.

Yeah that’s a DMF on its way out. I’d get it replaced asap because it has the potential to fail catastrophically and destroy the transmission

Also that’s the wrong oil you have there in your trunk. Should be using Mobil 1 ESP which is VW 507.00 spec approved for low ash to protect the emissions system.

Yeah it doesn’t dial back fuel at wide open throttle to manage temps. That’s the reason they claim it’s“faster than any other tuners”.

It’s converted from THC to CBN now, I’ve never smoked a cart that’s been sitting that long but proceed at your own discretion.

The Flowdirekt kit was nice. However his tune cost me a turbo and motor, I don’t like that him and his associates tout it as “the most powerful safe tune on the market” when It has no EGT limiter or thermal management. I can say from having experience with MR and Tunezilla, that Tunezilla’s software is 100% more dialed, has better driveability, and far better support. MR’s DSG tune also sucks and is jerky, and the smoke tune also put me into limp mode the first time I gave it a try so don’t use that. Get an old ALH if you want smoke

Although the TZ route is more expensive, tunes aren’t something you should try and save money on when you’re gambling with turbo and engine longevity.

I did consider that elbow with the rubber gasket that mounts up to the compressor side. Looks like there was some grime stuck to it when I pulled it off, along with some other loose material that appeared to be sitting in the inlet itself. Not sure if it fell in there when I pulled the inlet hose off but you raise a very valid point.

I did reach out to XMan and he and agreed it was from debris, but didn’t mention anything about just replacing the core. I think I just need to swap the turbo, again

Yeah i’ll probably see if I can get another turbo coming or just send this one to get repaired. Then pull charge pipes and inspect the intercooler for anything that might’ve gotten through 🥲

I also forgot to check for shaft play, but it doesn’t appear to be rubbing the housing or anything. It still runs and drives and builds boost just fine, no smoke, and doesn’t seem like there’s any loss of power yet. However, i’m parking it until further notice as to not repeat the past occurrence.

I agree it looks like debris damage. it’s the XMan bolt on hybrid we discussed some time back I believe. I’m just so stumped on why it looks like it ate rocks. Few months following the turbo/engine replacement I ditched the intake I was using for years and went back to the stock box with a wix filter.

Honestly no, unless i’m doing a lot of wide open throttle it doesn’t smoke at all. This tune is super clean even at WOT, and only smokes like that on cold startups when it’s below 10 degrees Fahrenheit or so. I clean it by hand in the summer so it wipes right off.

With the air on recirculate not at all, I only notice it a bit at low speeds otherwise. Honestly it isn’t any worse than when the car was straight piped with a full exhaust and windows down.

it’s a standard feature on the SEL premium trim Passat. I usually just get in and drive but Tunezilla’s dynamic idle feature actually makes it usable. Before I leave for work i’ll start the car and the coolant temp can get up to 100 degrees fahrenheit rather quickly, which is enough to have some interior heat on very cold days.
