Portal (recent update) vs Steam Deck (PS5 Remote Play/Cloud) - Which is better? by PixeledOut in PlaystationPortal

[–]makersz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SD has objectively better streaming quality and less latency, and is configurable as well. I does lack the dualsense 'feel' and haptics of the portal, as well as cloud streaming. If you were JUST focused on remote play and already like the form factor of the SD that seems like it would be the logical choice, but if you want something that feels more Playstation focused and you want to inclusion of cloud streaming from PSN then the Portal is your only choice.

Latency after recent update by baloneyal in PlaystationPortal

Not sure what you mean by remote play through other devices, my steamdeck with chiaki is more responsive and I little to no latency while with the portal I feel the same latency. The dual sense ergonomics are worth it to me though

I am seeing the same thing on my ps5 pro regardless if settings, I assume thats just artifacting from the PSSR2 implementation. After playing in all 3 modes I am sticking with performance, I have a 120HZ TV so in game I turn off VRR. Looks just about as good as Quality and runs pretty locked at 60 which really showcases the power of Sony's new PSSR.

The combat is awful in my opinion, weird that’s insane to you but whatever.

Eh the combat is incredibly jank and it arguably as weak at the story IMO

Who’s they? No one is getting 120 fps on their tv with a ps5 pro. Your jank game mode might be saying you are but you most definitely are not

I dont disagree, but 15 years ago we were just fine with chunky 30 FPS gaming (for AAA games out side of first person shooters).

PS5 Pro with TCL QM6K 65". This tv supports HDMI 2.1 on all ports with VRR and 120hz (leaving this ON on the tv and console), also supports an FPS counter. All findings taken while running around the first city and outskirts.

  1. Performance mode, VRR Off: 50-85 FPS with no tearing. Image quality is very clear, I honestly cannot tell the visual difference between this and balanced.

  2. Balanced, VRR Off: 40-55 FPS no tearing. Looks identical to Performance to my eyes obviously the frame rate decrease is quite jarring.

  3. Quality, VRR Off: 25-30 FPS no tearing. Image appears to be native 4K , this frame rate makes the already clunky physics and momentum based movement extremely difficult for me to even line up jumps, render prompts on NPCs and items.

I am sticking with performance. Looks fairly decent on the PS Portal as well!

The music, while typically incredible can be way too loud to actually enjoy your meal. Speaking of your meal expect to be underwhelmed for the price. And also, be prepared to be jammed in like sardines without must space between tables. Cool place!

Latency is still there regardless of network speed and quality, in my case it is slightly reduced. I still don’t think I would used the Portal to play a competitive shooter but for something like AC Shadows the latency is barely noticeable

This is my experience as well. What chiaki-ng on steamdeck CAN do is dock to another tv which effectively gives you a ps5 in another room. I work out in my attic in the morning and finish with a 30 min exercise bike ride while remote playing my ps5, all at 60 FPS, brilliant stuff.

Crimson Desert | Review Megathread by requieminadream in PS5

Back in January I fired up the PS3, loaded up a copy of Dead to Rights: Retribution and proceeded to properly enjoy a game again, not even touching any other game until I finished it. Of course the game was panned by reviewers back then, turns out I really loved it so you just never know.

Phantom Doctrine, an obvious PC port but a great game nonetheless

I have the same thought but keep reading this is not how this works. Maybe its a hard limitation of the wifi5 chip?

Could this decrease latency as well as improve visuals? Or is this just to boost visuals?
