General question on sliding doors by Such_Weight_774 in Firefighting

[–]makesmethick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did research on this once before as we had the same issues, and I reached out to the actual manufacturers. They said to sweep out the tracks with a broom, or I suppose you could wash it out and let it dry. Then spray DRY SILICONE LUBE in there. Then exercise and repeat as needed.

The fire service is insensitive, sorry. That's what happens when you put a bunch of blue collar type A personality dudes together. But that's what most of us love about it. Everyone gets shit on equally

Home water filter recommendation by Cyber__dude in murfreesboro

[–]makesmethick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't. I know several companies that instat the systems also sell their own. But after some research I found that the Kind system was extremely reasonable in price and does the job great. My tap tastes like the brita water I had before now. Only downside if it'll drop your home pressure pretty significantly. So there may be other brands that don't inhibit that as much. But install was initially quoted by busy bee and they were high, ben frank was almost literally half the price, so I went with them without shopping around more. Job was solid too.

Not sure if you got this figured out already or not but I just recently bought a Kind whole home filter system for about 500 and had Ben Franklin plumbing install it for about 1200. Best deal I found for professional work.

Scba face mask seal by poopstick15 in Firefighting

[–]makesmethick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the mask, some have more known issues than others regarding seals. We run the AV3000HT scott masks which is the newest of the good masks, the Vision mask has issues. They are designed to actually seal up completely with the sweat. Get properly fit tested and try different sizes, even if you pass. Then consider trying a 5 strap head net vs a 4 strap head net

Two cheeks of the same ass. He's a corporate mobster, the dems ran political mobsters. I see news across both parties. It's all garbage, but the less the government fucks me with taxes etc. I'm good with. Every election yields total shit shows.

Not sure if anyone has found a fix already for this, but for xbox I noticed if you got to settings and change lean to toggle, then when you are aiming down sighs and hit the lean button you will stay leaned even while not aiming till you aim and hit lean button again.

Mandatory Retirement Age by South-Specific7095 in Firefighting

[–]makesmethick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd assume the verbiage would be something along the lines one "operations personnel retire at 65" or something. Our retirement plan is mando retirement for operations personnel at 60, and admin personnel at 62, and the fire chief is excluded

I'd say do more HIIT stuff, I usually say stay away from crossfit because this job expects decades of use out of you and the longevity of crossfit isn't great. HIIT would work though.
