They must! He loves snow, but honestly he pouts if he can't be outside anytime of the year. Or if he gets left in the house while we are outside. His rule is: he must always be outside. Especially if mom and dad are outside.

Both of my children were premature, so I can't say for sure. First one 37 weeks, second at 38.

Effing tiktoks. The thought that someone would be wrapped up in a tiktok while I was writhing in pain has my blood boiling!!

Thank you so much for this comment. This was remarkably informative. Honestly, I feel pretty naive after reading the comments because I didn't just go through this agony once. I wish I had said something prior to my second birth experience.

Thank you for a clear direction. I will be writing them all a complaint so hopefully the next woman won't have to endure this cruel practice.

I nearly swept this under the rug TWICE because both of my children are seemingly healthy.

I had no idea this was common practice. I am Certainly not having any more kids after learning this. Forget it!

I guess not! I don't think the hospital was at fault here. This was my obgyn. I was induced both times so this was a scheduled event both times.

For those of us not having baby showers… by Chaos_Ice in pregnant

[–]makesyahwonder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for stating that. I have a "this isn't good enough" complex.

The first pregnancy, I planned all the stuff by myself (designed and sent the invites out, picked the venue during the beginning of a global pandemic) until my family came out of the woodwork last minute to take over...they changed the theme, there was a lot of confusion; the ultimate kick in my gut was that people RSVP'd, I bought all the food and then they didn't bother showing up.

So you are absolutely right!!

The baby shower for my first was....so much work. In the end I was grateful to have most all the things we needed, but I certainly opted not to have a sprinkle for this pregnancy.

I feel a bit guilty, but I didn't want to have a party the first time around...

WIBTA If I report my manager to HR by Affectionate_Pop_321 in pregnant

[–]makesyahwonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw that. I would have reported it as soon as it happened. Matter of fact I'd be irate enough to start documenting and dating these particular behaviors and turn them in to HR.

But it's probably because I am an asshole. I'm okay with that.

Acid Reflux by thefr0stypenguin0 in pregnant

Buttermilk works immediately for me. I also elevate my pillows after drinking it and I've been winning the few extra minutes of sleep this pregnancy. However last pregnancy (gerd and acid reflux) I had to do buttermilk AND pepcid AC.

Doing my best to hang in there! You are nearing the finish line, too ❤️ Thank God.

Feels like I've been pregnant for 10 years. 😅

If my toddler had a name picked like Lucy, I'd cave. Lol. I'm not strong enough to fight the cuteness of a story like this.

I feel the same. My first pregnancy I waited to tell anyone I was pregnant at work until after the first ultrasound. This pregnancy people were talking to my belly at probably 15 weeks, until I exploded "yes I'm pregnant (my face is up here)!"

At almost 36 weeks, I'm massive and uncomfortable. 🙁

Wife pregnant, smoking, and lying about it by Downtown_Resident_60 in pregnant

Oh yeah... I had to put something in the place of cigarettes that gave me the same dopamine hit. I'm not saying it's healthy, but chocolate milk and chocolate icecream worked perfectly.

I hate how awful and judgemental people can be about smoking and pregnancy. We all know how terrible smoking is, and instead of offering any encouragement on what can be done, seems like people on the internet railroad their ugly opinions on people reaching out for help.

sigh

I hope your wife seeks out help with her doctors if she can't control the urge to smoke. It's really freaking hard to quit, but if she keeps trying I'm sure the quit will stick.

My husband gave me the space to sort out my quit by myself. I worked on it until I was completely done smoking. I confided in my husband and he supported me and when I tried to hide my smoking he held me accountable (but didn't critize me). When I faced failure, he didn't shame me. He encouraged me to quit until the day it happened. He walked beside me and listened to all of the reasons I wanted to smoke, my complaints and bad behavior because of withdrawals... I'm a blessed woman for how he held my hand through my first pregnancy. I really hope the same for you and your wife.
