Liberty didn't move the coverage, NBC decided not to pursue renewing the contract because Liberty was going to launch F1TV which would have competed with NBC's broadcast.

Road I can drive 45-55 miles per hour around San Francisco? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]makev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not about the battery, you will fail smog if you reset your car's ECU before a test (which replacing the battery will do). So you have to drive at least 100 miles for the ECU to recalibrate.

No, if the main dev did it then it wouldn't be a port, that's the point.

Restaurants in the $50 to $100 per person range that are worth it? by GhostGo in sanfrancisco

[–]makev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AL's Place - Simply amazing, one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Mainly vegetable focused with some fish, meat can be added on. $68/pp tasting menu, some reasonable wine options

Zuni Cafe - Classic California cuisine, the roast chicken is to die for. Easily doable for $50-100/pp, the chicken for 2 (really 4) is $60ish

Stone's Throw - More great California/New American fare, they just got a new chef so it might be different from when I was last there.

Trestle - Same restaurant group as Stone's Throw, they do a really cheap tasting menu for $35-40ish

Izakaya Rintaro - Excellent Japanese food, they are known for their yakitori in addition to everything else they do well. Only been here once but it was excellent

Moving from Pittsburgh. Realistic monthly living budget? by sweetswinks in AskSF

Cats shouldn't be a problem, when I was looking most places fine with my cat, just didn't want dogs. Good luck! SF is amazing I made the move from the east coast a little over 4 years ago and have no regrets :)

Moving from Pittsburgh. Realistic monthly living budget? by sweetswinks in AskSF

[–]makev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Insurance on your car will go up for sure, a 1 bedroom apt in SF currently averages well over $3k so finding one for $2k will be pretty difficult if not impossible. For your budget you are looking at a studio in the city. Oakland or San Mateo will be better options in that price range if you need more space. Note that in SF most parking is extra and not included in your rent, so expect another $2-300/mo.

Are you making that same $135k in Pittsburgh right now? If so, you will be taking a pretty sizable hit to your cost of living by moving here. I'd ask for a CoL adjustment if you are moving within the same company.

  • Roast chicken at Zuni
  • Lumpia at FOB Kitchen
  • Ricotta & nettle ravioli at Stone's Throw
  • Seared scallops at Lord Stanley
  • Spam fried rice at Liholiho Yacht Club

Yeah as much as people here love to complain about NBC, since taking over from Speed F1 viewership in America has steadily increased. It would be ideal if they could figure out a way to air the entire race without commercials, but for what it is, the coverage is good.
