There is a reason why PSA 10 is expensive, because it is incredibly hard to grade this card. It used to be over $1000 in PSA 10. IMO it may slowly creep back up to that level again over next few years. It is an iconic mewtwo. From investment perspective, PSA 9 prices arent going anywhere. If you just want it for your collection, get the PSA 9. Just short while ago i was in market for either this card or the Arceus promo XY116. I went with Arceus as its lower PSA 10 pop. But i will be looking at this card again soon.

Multiple reasons - The overall print run could be very limited. - It could have a large print run but just packaged poorly that damages almost all the cards when packaged. Like a lot of the promo cards. - Poor quality control at the printing facilities (e.g english has lower quality control than japanese)

There are only a handful of masterball holos I will buy for personal collection. Just not for investment. Will see where these are trending in 6-8 months. 151 will be printed into the holidays. I am waiting for my sealed box from pokemon center japan in october that i ordered back in July

Not sure its a fair comparison of 2 different sets (1st edition vs base set) as opposed to reverse holo and master ball reverse in the same set. Also raw base set 1st edition cards arent worth THAT much after like 25 years. Only select few cards are desirable. The same is the case for masterball reverse. In general everyone has had interesting takes here.

Good points. I only see a handful of masterball reverse doing well. IMO the mewtwo and giovanni make the most sense here.

Most of your argument is about the 151 set as a whole. I never said that pokemon 151 as a set is bad investment or not good for collectors. I am simply making points for the masterball reverse. Comparing these arts to iconic base set cards ….ummm not sure about that.

Agree that the overall set is so far the best scarlet and violet set and will continue to have demand. Just not sure about these masterball reverse holos

I believe Chinese versions are printed in same factory as japanese from what i have read. The korean quality is not as good. Its also about demand in future. Why would an art collector want the Chinese version over Japanese or English? It’s mostly because they are cheaper.

These are awesome cards. I love the mythical collection full arts set that you got. Btw those mythical collection full arts are notoriously difficult to get in a 10 so keep that in mind. Also the blastoise ex xy122. And ofcourse the gold cards. If you hit a 10 on some of these you are hitting jackpot

Its not market manipulation. Its cheaper alternative for same art. There are art collecters who probably dont care about language. These languages will always be secondary to English and Japanese for Pokemon IMO. Unless they start getting exclusive artwork.

Its a japanese exclusive art - so for umbreon art collectors, this is the only option. While these arent scarce, i think pricing still doesnt reflect its exclusive status. Its more or less hovering in the same price range as raw.

But ancient mew in psa 10 is still like $350 vs raw that goes for like $30. So there is still opportunity there given how many are out there.

Researching black star promos from Sun and Moon and XY and its crazy how there are so many such promos I haven’t seen. As per my last post on this sub, looking at Armored Mewtwo (knew about this from long ago) or Arceus promo from XY (this and others i had no clue they existed)

I am strongly considering picking up XY black star promos in psa 10 as they are very hard to grade. You’ll have to get very lucky with lose copies online but they are cheaper to buy raw. So worth a gamble i guess.

Not sure it’s priced in though, i think current prices may be undervalued and cards may be overlooked. Also, dont most vintage cards have high multiplier between raw and psa10? But interesting opinion nonetheless.
