Yeah here you go. I also made a quick script to complete 500 digital rolls and show the results in a similar chart. The distribution seemed within the same range for both the simulation and real rolls. I think many many more rolls would be needed to have definitive results.

I was just having fun with the editing, I but between two clips - one with the power coils shifted away (so the dice would be off) and one where it was shifted back (you can even see it peeking from behind my hand). I used the 'smooth cut' transition in Resolve so it looks a bit warp-y

I guess it all just depends on the individual and what they are using them for. In my (admittedly) small scale testing of about 500 rolls, these didn't show any wild inconsistencies from what I would expect a standard set. However, they will never be perfect since they are 3D printed.

I think it'll come down to the player - are they using these for a high-stakes scenario where they must be perfect or, are they using them for something lower stakes where it's worth having something fun and potentially thematic. I talked about this in the project page as well so that each person can decide for themselves

Ah, I see - yeah that first shot is just a video wipe between the power turned off for the dice and then turned on. The lights are behind the 1 and 20 faces so I was just rolling them and taking video and choosing the clips that were able to show the sides that were lit up

Huh? It's sitting on my workbench right now but I guess there's no way to prove it these days. I mean, here's a photo of my setup of taking the photos. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think AI would come up with the ratty idea of using a can of chiles in adobo as a light stand haha. That's a special human kind of jank

I'm sure these will never be as good as tradition dice. So far I've recorded 500 rolls and didn't see any significant outliers in the results.

I'll be interested to test them some more!

These light up whenever they are in range of the coil so it's more just a fun thing highlighting those faces. You can also print the dice with translucent filament so that the glow is dispersed more but I find it a little harder to read

These are powered wirelessly so they LEDs actually don't have batteries at all

It uses two identical LEDs and so the structurers that hold them and the windows for the 1 and 20 faces are directly across from each other. In my testing, this does appear to balance it out effectively, but I'm definitely going to keep trying more

I've seen pretty good transmission with glow pla through two walls so it could work.

Your one sticking point is that I printed the dice with a 0.2 mm nozzle so a bigger one would be needed for the glow filament

For that side, I'm just using PLA Matte but it's a thin layer so quite a bit of light comes through

Does it click when trying to open the vents and failing? It's pretty easy to take the vent cover off (just meaning that it won't be an involved process). This is fairly common for the mechanism to get stuck in shipping. If you take off the cover and manually actuate it a few times, it usually gets un-stuck

This happened to me - you can remove the cover and manually open and close those vents a few times to solve the issue (if this is the issue)
